Thanksgiving Dinner Ideas?

table.jpg

I’ve agreed just last night to host Thanksgiving at my house again this year for family on my husband’s side (my side is scattered to Florida, Georgia and Texas!) so that means I’ll have thirteen people (and the list keeps growing!) from babies to grandparents, milling around my too small combined dining/living room in less than a week.

Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I don’t cook.

There's A New Sheriff In Town - Kate Kulwicki Is A Winner!

tssw_jan2010coversm2.jpg

Kate...email me your address at chris@christynebutler.com and I'll get a copy of THE SHERIFF'S SECRET WIFE out to you as soon as my author copies arrive!

Yeah, the title is kinda cheesy, but it wasn’t my idea.

Hey there, Gage Steele here. I’m the sheriff of Destiny, Wyoming. Christyne is knee deep in dealing with the love life of Gina, my younger sister. It seems Gina’s got herself all wrapped up in a guy who is one hundred percent all wrong for her (speaking as both an older brother and as a sheriff) so I told Christyne I’d stop by and show off the cover to her next release, THE SHERIFF’S SECRET WIFE.

Yep…I’m that sheriff. And how did I get a secret wife? Well, that’s a bit of a long story.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to The Wedding...A Winner!

HSheryl is the winner! Email me at chris @ christynebutler.com (no spaces Smile) with your address and I’ll get those wedding books out to
you!

Or even at the wedding!

My step daughter is getting married this Saturday in an outdoor wedding and thank goodness the weather Gods are promising us a beautiful sunny day with a bit of a nip in the air... ah, Fall comes to New England.

As a hopeful romantic I love weddings...the promise of two people in love who want to share their lives with each other…ah, so sweet! Of course, planning them can be a bit hectic as my step daughter has found out, things don’t always go as planned.

Talking Heads -- Jessiecue Is A Winner!

Jessiecue -- if you'll send me your mailing address at chris @ christynebutler.com (no spaces!) I'll get those books out to you!

How many cooks spoil the broth? How many thoughts spoil a story?

I’ve always written from both the hero and heroine’s point of view in my stories as I am a big believer in the old saying “there are two sides to every story” (just ask my husband!) In fact, I often find myself inside my hero’s head for long stretches of time with my heroine tapping me on the shoulder, demanding her share of space on the page to get her thoughts and feelings out there.

Scent-sational! Tappitytaptap is a Winner!

---Send me your address at chris @ christynebutler.com (no spaces) and I'll get a box off to you with candles and romance books after I get back from the national conference in Washington DC! Christyne---

"When nothing else subsists from the past, after the people are dead, after the things are broken and scattered· the smell and taste of things remain poised a long time, like souls· bearing resiliently, on tiny and almost impalpable drops of their essence, the immense edifice of memory" -Marcel Proust "The Remembrance of Things Past"

Fresh-cut grass, a new baby, steaks cooking on a grill, leaving burning in the fall, men’s cologne, clean sheets fresh from drying in the sun, spring lilacs…some of my favorite scents! Thanks to scientific explanations too detailed to go into here, we know that the area of our brain that stores the memories from our lives is connection to smells we experience. It only takes a slightest hint of a scent and a long buried, sometimes forgotten memory is as bright and alive as the day it was created.

What Was Your Prom Theme? TheBrat is the Winner!

Prom.jpg

Yes, it’s that time of year again.  High school junior and seniors are spending one night in May enjoying that time honored ritual --- the Prom.  My teenager daughter’s Senior Prom is this weekend and I think we are ready now that I remember to order the corsage and boutonnière late last week, beautiful dusky lavender roses called “Cool Water” --- so pretty!  Yes, we took on this responsibility as her date pleaded total ignorance in this area.  She’s had her dress for two months now having found an aqua blue cocktail dress that looks wonderful on her (and no, I’m not bias Laughing) and the cutest silver strappy heels that she’s still working on feeling comfortable in.

Chocolate or Stuffed Bunnies? DRKEEL is a Winner!

easter1970.jpg

Not know that bunnies had ears? LOL! Okay, got my daughter up really early this morning (she has to go to work anyway!) and she pulled drkeel out of the hat! Congrats! send me your mailing address via email at chris @ christynebutler.com (no spaces!) and I'll get out a copy of THE COWBOY'S SECOND CHANCE to you as soon they arrive!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, that me…age five I think (my mom is one of those who didn’t always put dates on the back of photographs) and don't I seem a bit dazed by the size of my new friend? Or maybe it was Easter candy overload!

Does this cowboy remind you of anyone? Reply and you could win him!

The Cowboy's Second Chance

I was so excited when I saw the cover of my first ever Silhouette Special Edition, THE COWBOY’S SECOND CHANCE, that’s coming out in June. I knew it was going to be a ‘hero only’ cover and I’ll freely admit I was as anxious as a new momma waiting for her baby to make his first appearance. And how proud I am! Isn’t he just yummy?

Everyone…this is Landon Cartwright. Landon? Meet everyone!

eHarlequin’s Open House: Dinner with an Old Friend

christynebutler-eharlequin.jpg

Today eHarlequin is welcoming old friends and new with their annual Open House (don’t forget the Special Edition Authors Chat tonight at 7:00 pm EST) This reminds me of a good friend I have known since high school who has done the same thing for years over the holidays. She would open her home for food, drink, and good times to anyone who wanted to stop by. Friends, co-workers, and even strangers off the street have been known to pop in and stay for a few minutes to share holiday cheer or stay for the entire evening.
