Vacation and the books I am taking.

Steve and I are going on vacation in 10 days (yes I am counting the days).  We will be going to Missouri, which is ten hours of drive time.  I love to read in the car and look forward to vacations not only for the precious time with my hubby but also as a chance to binge on great books that I stockpile for such trips.

It's Christmas in July.

I read three more Christmas books this month.  I don't know what it is about the heat of summer that makes me want to read books that take place in the winter.

Another easy peasy book contest.

Over on Alison Kent's blog she's got another excellent book up for grabs.  All you have to do for a chance to win is leave a comment.

Easy peasy.

Here's the link for anyone interested.

Navy SEALS

This is a very touching tribute.  The feed is almost ten minutes, and every second is time well spent honoring a hero.

Harlequin Presents through time.

I'm not a die hard Harlequin Presents fan but I do enjoy reading them from time to time.  Over the past two weeks I have read six older HP's, the oldest I think was written in 1990.  It was an interesting change of pace to read books that were over a decade old (for the most part) and to compare how writing styles have evolved in contemporary romance.

I'm a bit overwhelmed.

I can't complain. I love my books, but I am a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I have only read forty-five books this year, some of which were books that I have read before. And I have bought one hundred thirty-two books.

Uh, yeah. This is not getting me ahead in the battle I am waging with my TBR pile.

Breaking it down

My numbers for what I have blogged so far this year.

I like seeing what I have read the most of and what I think I really enjoy but for some reason haven't read any of.  The most surprising on my list right now is that there are no HQN's.  I am reading one now but it's hard to believe that I haven't up to this point for this year.

I met J.R. Ward.

I went to a booksigning in Radlciff KY yesterday. It was wonderful. She spent an hour discussing the books and answering questions about speculation.

I had such a good time. I met some ladies that I know from Lora Leigh's message board there. They were so nice.

A contest for a book.

I posted earlier in the week that I met Shiloh Walker Saturday at a booksigning.  I bought her newest book "Through the Veil".  I haven't reviewed it yet, but I enjoyed it so much.

I went my first ever booksigning today.

It's true.  I have never been to a booksigning until today.  And let me tell you, I jumped in head first!  It was Shiloh Walker and Lora Leigh!  They are both so wonderful.  I took four books to be signed (I didn't dare take all forty-plus I have between the two combined).  And then I bought a few others that I didn't have yet.
