Quiet Canadians ~ Katherine T's June Summary

Wow ... what a horrible reading month for me!   I've been exceptionally busy, so I've been experimenting with audios and ebooks  .... which has been nice but that in itself for me has been a learning experience

Quiet Canadians ~ Katherine T's May Summary

May was a very busy month for me and it just flew by.  And I'm afraid June is going to be just as busy if not more so.  I'm hoping I'll get more audios read though, as I picked up a nice ipod speaker for the office with a remote (so I won't need to wear the earbuds at work and I can pause from a distance).

Our Team though has marked milestones.  Christa's made her first 100 books and the Team has now surpassed our 200th of combined Harlequin and Non-Harlequin.  We only have 26 more Harlequins to read to make another milestone!

Quiet Canadians' reach another two milestones! ~~~ Far Out!

And our Team has reached 200!!!

FAR OUT!

Quiet Canadians ~ Katherine T's April Summary

I'm a little disappointed with my personal reading totals for April.   I had hoped to keep up the momentum from March but alas, somewhere in the middle of the month I lagged.  I think part of my lagging is I was getting very distracted with our It's Raining Men mini-challenge!  I found myself spending time online looking up hunky heroes to play the leads in the movie version of the books I was reading.  That was loads of fun, discovering all those gorgeous male leads and reading their stats and refreshing myself with the roles they've played in the past.

Quiet Canadians - KatherineT's March Summary

I think March was an excellent reading month for me.   The New-to-You mini-challenge is always fun, and it's a challenge I wouldn't mind doing again this year.  Though my personal reading totals are down by 2 books over last year, I've actually read more as the page counts this month have averaged between 250 - 300 pages per book, where as last year I read mostly HP's.   So I'm very pleased with my reading totals!   And as a Team, we Quiet Canadians are three books higher than last year to this time!

I'm curious --- How do you read a book?

I’ve posted much of the following as a comment on a blog, and felt this may be worthy of a discussion of it’s own.

Over the last few books that I’ve read, I’ve been trying to pay attention to HOW I read a book.   This has proven to be rather difficult for me, as I like to lose myself in a story and I don’t really pay much attention to the “hows” or “whys”.

Quiet Canadians - KatherineT's February Summary

I have a massive TBR and with the February Mini-Challenge of the "one book leads to another"  it was fun putting the titles or author's together.   This challenge is also great at pulling me out of reading slumps.  The book reviews are influencing me and since joining the Challenge in 2006, I've found that I'm looking to read books others have recommended or I think others might enjoy reading a review about.   Whereas before the Book Challenge, I tended to just pick a line (for the flavour) and just go with about anything in the TBR.   I'd pick linked books and line them up and then put in a few single titles in between before lining up another set of linked books.  I like having my reading TBR all lined up so that when I finish one book the next is ready to go.   Less pondering, and more reading!   Our March mini-challenge is another favourite of mine, the "new-to-you".  I think I've read all of the lines now, but there are tons and tons of new authors in my TBR that I've been meaning to get to.   So here's to another great reading month!

So what will it be? ... An early Spring? ...

Eagerly this morning crowds gathered in Nova Scotia to greet Shubenacadie Sam .. they waited with baited breath, to see Sam's verdict .... Sam's the first woodchuck in North America to greet the day, and in the rain this morning, Sam doesn't see his shadow ... his verdict, "An early Spring!"
