National Family Literacy Day Will Be Here Soon! How Will You Honor It?

Now that all my kids are school-aged, we have required reading every day. The youngest is only required to read 20 minutes/day, but since the rest of us have to read half an hour, we make him read for half an hour, too (okay, I don't have required reading, I have, "Oh, I can read, too, now!" euphoria and want to read at least 30 minutes).

My PRINT TBR . . .

Bookshelf4C.JPG

A little while back, Amy in the Toronto office showed us her TBR, including her Sony Reader. So I thought that I should show off my TBR.

I told y'all back at the start of '08 that if I didn't buy or borrow another book, it would take me about 2 years to get through my print TBR. Well, do y'all really think that I haven't bought or borrowed any books since the beginning of '08? The answer, of course, is no.

DH bo't me this shelving unit a couple of months ago. Every single book on it is in my print TBR. There are 5 shelves on it (you can see shelves #2, 3 & 4). The fact that I had to truncate the pic so much to make it fit here alone should tell me something about how out-of-control my bibliophilism is.

Reading Stats YTD and What I Did On My Summer Vacation :)

I am going to tell y'all about my summer vacation, but first, my reading stats.Laughing

I've been doing the hosty thing for 7 months going on 8, and I'm surprised that my reading numbers aren't lower, b/c it does cut into reading timeSurprised. I do have a discrepancy between my spreadsheet and the auto-counter (one book less here than on the spreadsheet). But I've gone back and checked, and everything has been reviewed, so I probably accidentally put one of my '09 reads in the '08 thing back when we could do either. And my spreadsheet doesn't match the numbers here b/c the numbers here include the reads that I do with my kids, but I keep a spreadsheet of the reads that are "just for me" and a different one for the reads with the kids. I've reviewed the equivalent of 11 books b/c of the kids' books thing that aren't included in the numbers below.

Thoughts That I Probably Shouldn't Share (grin)

I'm writing the March Treasure Hunt and I'm "suffering" through looking at lots of hairless male chests (and no apologies to sheandeen, who has made it known she doesn't like the hairless look LOL). And they have such defined muscles, I'm wondering, "How do they do that?" Last week, one of the DJs on the morning show that I listen to had muscles sprayed on by some guy who does that for a living using tanning spray. So, they must use some that makes you tan more or less and control where it goes? Or are these guys really that buff and they just oil up for the camera? It never would have crossed my mind before last week that these guys might be only really buff and a spray-on tan can make them look super buff.
