100,000 Book Challenge
Taller than a 10,000 book TBR pile…, it’s the eHarlequin.com 100,000 Book Challenge!
Once again, eHarlequin.com challenges you to new reading heights. IF we can read 100,000 books in total, we can beat our 2007 record and read a mind-boggling, and unprecedented 100,000 books! But the great news this year is that for every book we read, we'll be donating a book to the National Center for Family Literacy to benefit their literacy programs. The stated mission of the NCFL is to create a literate nation by leveraging the power of the family. Since its inception in 1989, more than one million families throughout the country have made positive educational and economic gains as a result of NCFL’s work, which includes training more than 150,000 teachers and thousands of volunteers.
So...don't just sit there...READ SOMETHING!!

'I never meant to do it...she was just there when I needed someone...'
Rachel and Daniel had three adorable children and a strong marriage - or so Rachel had always believed. But her happy existence was shattered when she was told that Daniel had been having a, affair. Then she realised that they'd been growing apart for years. Rachel wanted to save her marriage - but was it too late
My Review:
Holy crap. I cried like mad during this book, even the happy loving moments between them made me cry. I needed to pull out the kleenex. This book is about Daniel and Rachel, who married when she was 17 and pregnant with the first of their kids. They have been together seven years, and through those years Daniel has gained business success and his life has changed, but he's tried to keep his family life separate from that, keep his family as his "garden in the vile jungle". During a bad period where all three of their kids were ill, Rachel was run-down, and Daniel was under threat of a business takeover, Daniel started seeing another woman... a colleague at work who he started seeing outside the office. He quickly came to his senses, and he never had sex with the other woman, but he still felt what he did was cheating and he felt a lot of guilt. Rachel was told by a third party about it, and it nearly destroyed their marriage, but she stayed and fought through the pain.

One of the first things I heard on this audio was a disclaimer that times have changed and what was acceptable in 1982 may not be acceptable now. That made me curious. Listening to Joyce Bean tell the story, I could see why the disclaimer was there. We were definitely dealing with an alpha male (not one of my fav heros) among other things.

challenge_name:Book Review created byon05/09/2008 - 00:30WOW, Another winner! I have really enjoyed this author's books. Each one has a new element of surprise. Riley Jensen is hurting after being dumped by Kellen so throws herself into work. The new killings are similar but is it the same murderer. Riley needs help with this case but how does she feel about Quinn now. Rating: Excellent and ready for more. NFM

Jess Calhoun is a Ghostwalker.
challenge_name:Book Review created byon05/08/2008 - 22:36The heroine is a fiesty Irish girl from a big family. She meets the hero at a restaurant she worked at, where she dumps a hot plate of food on an ex of hers and gets fired. He follows her, and offers her a job. She goes to work for him as a secretary and part-time child care provider. She gets along really well with his young daughter. She gets to know the hero, the hero flirts with her (a little bordering on sexual harrassment, given it's not normal for the boss to railroad his employee into moving in with him). They move in together, starting off innocently because she lives in a crappy bedsit. Soon he puts the moves on her. She ends up pregnant and runs off because he took her to bed saying that he didn't want to make any promises for their future. (Silly hero, why do heroes always say that? Don't they know that will make women pregnant with their babies run off in the opposite direction?) The hero in this book is quite a nice man, he's not your standard HP alpha hero, he's very human and ordinary, even old-fashioned, but he's still charming and flirty. Good read.
Rating: 3.5/5 stars, enjoyable, especially if you like secretary/boss stories. NFM
