I loved this story, but the execution did not work for me. The premise of this story is movie; Pure Country (Rex McGee) meets Small Town Girl (LaVyrle Spencer). There is the famous, glitzy country singer that is tired of the glitz, manipulated by a manager that wants more (Pure Country), who left behind an angry embittered male (Small Town Girl). Unfortunately, I felt that McGee and Spencer did a better job of telling their stories. Movies convey feelings so much easier because they are a visual medium and for this reader, Spencer is a master at conveying feeling through the written page. I found the feeling piece absent in this book and that is were my disappointment stems from. I felt there was more telling and less showing the story in this book. The heroine was okay and sometimes the hero was. But for me he seemed like a beta male wearing an alpha like disguise, or in other words an angry, embittered beta male. Now I happen to like beta males, but either beta or alpha, angry, embittered males leave me cold. At best, my response to this book is ambivalent. Ultimately, I found the ending satisfactory.

Sarah Rose left the small Texas town of her youth for the bright lights of Nashville, leaving behind a brokenhearted Cody Landon. He is now looking for revenge. But does he find revenge, or does he find true love?

Suite Secrets miniseries, BUT I will come back to this.... Trent is a nice guy, but he is a bit of a cut throat of a businessman. I had to like him though. He wanted a great hotel, but he wanted to help the wild mustangs too. Cute concept. Julia really came up with great ideas to make Tempest West THE resort destination. Obviously, she is also very good at what she does. Love the little side romance between dad Lowell and mon Tyler too.

Now, the issue with the miniseries. I am reading along and thinking, this must be book two of the series. I remember Laney and Evan, but the front listing of her books doesn't list this book in the series. The title being "The Corporate Raider's Revenge". I have made a note in my lists though, that this really is a part of this series. Darn, I hate when this occurs - it messes with my brainUndecided

Oh wow!  Loved this book so much.  Not sure if it was because I have this unhealthy obsession with the way things used to be.  I loved Little House on the Prairie when I was a child and used to want to actually be Laura - not just like her but live her life.

Evan Tyler and Elena Royal rivals in the hotel industry and Evan uses an encounter between Elena to his advantage.  She does not make things easy for him to say the least and misunderstandings on both parties as other obsticles stand in the way of the merging not of the Hotel chains but their lives.

I enjoyed this story and would recommend it.
