5 Hearts! ~~~ This is by far my favourite Diana Palmer to date!   Nicky and Winthrop both have pain and betrayal in their pasts, and shy away from commitment.   I loved how Nicky slowly brought Winthrop some light in his life and how their relationship builds until neither can live without the other.  Ms Palmer has a remarkable talent for creativing sizzling chemistry that adds delicious tension that continues at a high level throughout the story. This is one Diana Palmer book that should not be missed!

3 ½ Hearts! ~~~ Carla is a young reporter who is still learning the ropes.  Her assignment is the city political scene and this puts her right into the Mayor's domaine.  Bryan's a widower and since his wife and daughter's death has given all his attention to his job as mayor.   There's something about the quirky new reporter on the beat that sparks his attention and he finds he's eager to be with her and does all he can to pursue a relationship.  All is well, until Carla has to turn a story that could ruin Bryan's career.  Though, I really enjoyed this lovestory, I found it didn't have the intensity I've come to expect from Ms. Palmer.  A very good read though.

My Opinion: A different book from her other Long, Tall Texans. The hero, Harley Fowler is not as arrogant, but he does have a mysterious past. The heroine, Alice Jones is strong, determined and has a very respected job. The romance is definitely there but we have to stay tuned to the next two books to find out the answer to the murder.

4 Hearts! ~~~ Diana Palmer knows how to draw out the intense emotions!  Though this was originally published in 1980, this story works very well today.  King is a man with a quick temper and Shelby has always gotten under his skin, sparks inevitably fly when they get near each other.   Shelby's been in love with King for years, but she doesn't know that his outbursts are meant to push her away, she thinks King honestly despises her and so she shrinks away.  You'll need some tissues handy, there are a few scenes where your heart with ache!

Personal Opinion - Not one of my favourite Diana Palmer books - the hero came across too strong and the heroine too weak - even for the time period

I love feisty females and Alice sure fits that description and she also has a wonderful sense of the ridiculous. She and Harley make quite the pair.It was also good to see Harley develop from a cocky young know it all to a man with substance. It was great to catch up with old characters as well as new who are starting on a new and dangerous adventure. I am looking forward to the ongoing series.

4 Hearts! ~~~ When Kate's fiance brutally drops her because she's not wealthy like he thought, she takes a job as secretary for a romance author.   Garet made it to the top in aeronautics because of his talent as a pilot and an engineer and his ruthless approach to business.   Kate sees her boss' neighbour as arrogant with his nose in the air, and Garet see the wisp of a girl as a spoiled brat determined to have her way.  A tragic accident leaves Garet blind and bitter, and throws Kate into his world.  Only Kate knows the truth of the accident and she's living on the edge until the day Garet remembers her and what she did.  Awesome!   Another treat from Ms. Palmer!

4 Hearts! ~~~ Curry Matherson never really looked twice at his mousey, plain secretary, their's was a very amiable professional relationship.  Eleanor Perrie endured a very strict upbringing where women never attracted attention to themselves.  Falling in love with Curry, Eleanor knew she would never be in his league, until she took off the horrible eyeglasses, pulled the pins out of her hair and wore outfits that proved she had a figure.  Suddenly Curry seems always annoyed with her and he says the most hurtful things.  I loved reading about these two and enjoyed their struggle for their HEA.
