Donna Alward
#4014 The Soldier's Homecoming
I rxed this book in the mail today and then had to run off to work! I came home after work and devoured it in one sitting.
I am glad to say this book is as good as I wanted it to be. I did cry many times because Donna got it- she really got it. The fear for Jonas that Shannyn feels is believable and so close to my heart.
140. Donna Alward ~ The Soldier's Homecoming ~ HR #4014
I've been looking forward to reading this story for quite awhile now... ever since I read a review for it... I think it was Sadhbh ~ and again a book that she really enjoyed came up another winner.
I was so hooked on what Jonas was going through, both physically, mentally and emotionally... and Shannyn was fantastic with him. Donna did a fabulous job taking us through Jonas' struggle and it reads very true to me... as does his insistence that he can get through it on his own. Whenever I read something like this, my eyes are opened to what servicemen and women in battle go through. Then for them to return home and try to go on as before after these lifechanging experiences. It's just incomprehensible to those who've not experienced it, but Donna puts a human face on this struggle and I applaud her.
I loved the relationship that Jonas built with Emma ~ and her love and acceptance of him was beautiful... she was so happy to have a daddy!
I did have some issues with Shannyn from time to time, but that just shows how real she came across... definitely someone that was believable.
RATING:
Excellence: Great to Excellent ~ 3.5 stars
Steaminess: Romantic
Marriage at Circle M
I read this book late into the night as I just could not put it down. It was a wonderfully sweet story I had particularly bought after reading the author's most recent release.
I was not disappointed and now, having worked backwards, I'm reading "Hired by the Cowboy"!
