Jennifer Blake, Dawn Encounter: first of a new series set in 1840 New Orleans, with lots of nifty historical detail. I hoped the heroine would have a swordfight, but alas, she did not.

This book was about a sword master and a widow who wanted to take lessons from him so that she could kill him because he had killed her brother in a sword fight. Of course, they ended up in love, and were going to get married at the end.

An absolutely wonderful read, one that will definitely sit with me for awhile. Not only will I want to read the rest of the books in this series but will now look for others by her. I was not only intrigued by the romance, and drama, but the history of mid 1800's New Orleans.
