In Her Shoes BY Jennifer Weiner
Certain Girls
This book is a sequel to Jennifer Weiner's first book Good In Bed. It's been about 13 years from the ending of the last book. Candance's daughter, Joy, is about to be bat mitzvahed, she's married to her diet doctor husband Peter and things are going pretty good. Of course the good times can't last forever and the family hits a few bumps in the road of life. The book is funny, sweet,
Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner (abridged audio, read by author)
Edited from the back: Weiner creates a tale of romance, forgiveness, and extreme sleep deprivation as four very different women navigate one of life's transitions: new motherhood. With her trademark warmth and humor, Weiner tells the story of what happens after happily ever after. My thoughts: again, an enjoyable listen that I wish was not abridged b/c I want to know everything there is to know about these people. I found them a mix of likable, frustrating, strong and immature but the one needing to grow does and the ones needing to forgive and/or heal begin that journey as well. Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner (abridged audio)
Edited from the back blurb: Canni Shapiro is smart, sharp, plus-sized and perfectly content to write about celebrities' lives on the pages of the Philadelphia Examiner. Then her ex-boyfriend writes about their ex-sex life in his column for a national magazine. Radiant with wit, bursting with surprises, and written with bite and bittersweet humor . . . gut-level real and laugh-out-loud funny. My thoughts: yes to how they described it but there were also tears for me at a couple of points. The reader did a great job. Very enjoyable listen. My only complaint is that it was abridged . . . I know that there must have been more story lines with some of her friends/family and I wish I had heard them. Read by Paula Cale; from Simon & Schuster and Recorded Books. NFM
Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner
From the Barnes and Noble Synopsis:
Readers fell in love with Cannie Shapiro, the smart, sharp-tongued, bighearted heroine of Good in Bed who found her happy ending after her mother came out of the closet, her father fell out of her life, and her ex-boyfriend started chronicling their ex-sex life in the pages of a national magazine.
Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner
Good In Bed
I was able to relate to the main character in this book, Cannie. She's an overweight journalist who has placed too much emphasis on her self-image. Some of the events seem too good to be believed, I would place this in the modern day fairy tale category.
