This is book 9 in the History of US series. This one covers United States History from the end of WWI through WWII. Written to the reader, it includes many photos and source quotes. I've been working my way through the series and cannot recommend these books highly enough, whatever your age. One note: The books are currently on the 3rd edition.

United States History from 1849 through 1917. Written to the reader,
these books are history unlike any textbook you remember from school.
Included are many photos and source quotes. I've been working my way
through the series and cannot recommend these books highly enough,
