Poison Study was a great, fast-paced read and Magic Study a lush world of danger and intrigue, so how would Fire Study fare? For me, there was just too much of Yelena in danger. She was doing great as the leader of her little expedition, but she seems to get kidnapped all the time and needs to be rescued. Yelena as damsel in distress?

I'd been meaning to read this book ever since I heard the premise about a woman who trades execution for life as a poison taster. It absolutely lived up to my expectations. Ms Snyder created a believable world and a compelling story.
