Don't mean to be rude... really should have spent more time reviewing and listed some positives (which I know there are).... but I just found this book boring.

The Devil's Shadow by Sally Wentworth (HP 1220)
Note to self: never read again. This was a painful read. He dated her sister six years ago and she fell in love with him then and told him her sister was trampy, which broke the sister/bf up. Now the heroine is dating the hero and her father dies, bringing the trampy sister back into their lives. The sister lies and schemes to break them up out of revenge, and ruins their relationship. I don't think I ever could have gotten over the lies and doubt about the fidelity of my partner: it would just sour the entire relationship. The heroine started off lighthearted and mature, but for the rest of the book she was an unlikeable jealous mess. Painful to read! Not a fun book.

Spoiler Warning: All my reviews contain spoilers to some degree
Favourite Scene:
Kate found that she didn't want him to go like this, with just a casual goodbye, not tonight of all nights. She lifted her hand towards him. 'Hugo.'
'Yes?'
Slowly she dropped her hand and shook her head.
'Oh—nothing.' 'Just—Hugo?'
'Yes.' Her glance met his and she thought she saw an I understanding light in his eyes—understanding and something else she couldn't fathom.
He stepped forward, pulled her to him, and kissed her hard on the mouth.
#61 – One Night of Love by Sally Wentworth (HP #1810, July 1996)
"Oliver Balfour is a man who always gets what he wants, and he makes it perfectly clear that he wants Dyan - in his bed! He is without doubt the most attractive man Dyan has ever met. What woman could resist his charm and sexual charisma? Dyan know she has to try...
It's all too much, too soon. They barely know each other! Yet every time Oliver looks at Dyan, she senses a physical attraction that threatens to overwhelm her. But they're supposed to be business partners, not lovers. Dyan simply can't afford to give in to the desire she feels for Oliver - not even for one night!"
Backfire by Sally Wentworth (HP 686)
An old story. Not very sexual, kind of conservative. She's an actress who's hired to do an industrial espionage thing on the hero. She betrays the hero, he knows the whole time and plays along with it, she breaks down out of guilt for betraying him and leaves. He chases after her. It's good in theory, but it didn't jump out and grab you the way it could have.
Rating: 3/5 stars, this book is out-dated and didn't stand the test of time too well, didn't have much of an impact.
