Book 192 - The Perfect Christmas by Debbie Macomber
Gotta love Debbie Macomber, and Debbie Macomber Christmas is even better! Anotehr delightful read with plenty of humor and tender emotion. Who can resist a motley crew like Cassie's friends and neighbors? NFM
Book 190 - Skin by Ted Dekker
another excellent inspirational thriller by master Ted Dekker. This story kept me guessing the entire time and I was totally thrown when the truth comes out as to what was really happening. It's definitely abook you need to play close attention to as it can be coinfusing if you're not following along well.
Book #2 in Ariana Franklin's "Adelia Aguilar" series
This is a radical departure from the kind of books I usually read. It is a historical mystery that takes place during the reign of King Henry II during the 12th century (1133 – 1189). It is quite an intriguing story with lots of action, murder, and mayhem. I enjoyed it although I had a little trouble following it in places, I think because I listened to it on CD instead of reading the book.
Book 189 - The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd
very good. almost poetic at times with her writing style. A few surprises for us and a few obvious circumstances, but all iuin all, a good one. NFM
Book 188 - Kiss Me While I Sleep by Linda Howard
anoterh great one with a few twists thrown in (though the one I had figured out WAY early). She did startle me for a few minutes towards the end when I thought she was going to jump the shark and throw an ending at us that would infuriate me. But she didn't so I was relieved. LOL NFM
Red Hot Lies by Laura Caldwell (unabridged audio) (MIRA, Jun 09)
A very enjoyable listen. Izzy McNeil is a young hot-shot attorney b/c her firm's biggest client moved all of his business to her a few years ago (bit by bit as she proved herself). But now he's dead and her fiance has disappeared and is suspected of murdering the client. Lots of action and surprises. First of three Izzy McNeil books that came out this summer. Well-read by Nancy Liem. Available from audible.com. NFM
Paranoia
Penn told me a while back that this had been available free from audible, so I downloaded it, figuring why not. I do love free books in any format! So I put it on my ipod shuffle and listened while doing laundry and mending or the walk to and from the bus stop. Took me a while (avoiding the laundry lately!) but finished it last night.
Book 187 - Cry No More by Linda Howard
Finished this one this afternoon. Great story. You can't help but love Milla and her dedication to her company Finders Inc, who searches for missing and/or kidnapped children. I liked the peek into fund raising for such a program and the background about her company. I love Diaz who is so NOT the traditional hero in any way shape or from.
Book 185 - Gretchen Lowell Book 3: Evil at Heart by Chelsea Cain
I've been waiting for this book for what seems like forever... ever since I finished the first two books earlier this year. I finally made it to the top of the waiting list at the library and started it immediately. It was fantastic. Totally gory in parts and VERY twisted but it totally keeps you guessing.
Book 184 - The Sanctuary: A Novel by Raymond Khoury
compelling thriller that spans centuries and countries. Archaelogist Evelyn makes an amazing discovery and shortly thereafter is kidnapped for what she found. her daughter sees her captured and promises to find her mother.
