Spoiler Warning: All my reviews contain spoilers to some degree
Content Warning: Dark story, intensely emotional, a total roller coaster. Know this though, I rated it 5/5 stars. Holy heck, I was totally pulled in and had tears in my eyes the whole time. The H/h were both faithful, both unable to move on after their breakup. This is the best book I've read from Jane Porter.
The Count's Blackmail Bargain by Sara Craven (HP 2567)
He's had a brief affair with a married woman and is blackmailed into seducing his cousin's inappropriate girlfriend in exchange for his aunt's silence about the affair. He falls in love with the innocent Laura who is pretending to be the girlfriend. Most characters aren't likeable. The hero is a bit of a dirty rogue, which isn't entirely charming. He spouts words of love a little too thickly for me.
The Greek's Chosen Wife by Lynne Graham (HP 2523)
Warm and passionate. These two began their arranged marriage 8 years ago but never lived together as man and wife. He had affairs with other women, but they never meant anything to him, he always spoke of her as his wife and planned to eventually settle down into marriage with her. Then she asks for a divorce! She wants to get on with her life and her plans include motherhood via sperm bank, which shocks him. They had become friends over the past 8 years, and now they work through their issues about sex and fidelity, she isn't quick to forgive him for the humiliation she suffered hearing about his affairs for years.
The Unfaithful Wife by Lynne Graham (HP 1779)
They married because her rich father bought her the man she loved as a present… by blackmailing him! The hero resented being forced into marriage and refused to be a stud servicing her: he wouldn't have sex with her for years. But he had other affairs with women and it hurt her, though she couldn't blame him because they never were truly man and wife.
Getting Rid of Matthew by Jane Fallon (Harper Collins 2007)
It was really the cover that drew me to the book. It looked fun and witty. And of course, the "International Bestseller" didn't hurt either. This a story about a mistress who decides as her man finally leaves his wife after their 4-year affair that she doesn't want him anymore. But she can't figure out how to get rid of him.
