battle of the sexes
Ice in His Veins by Carole Mortimer (HP 437)
Back Cover:
No way would Eden agree to his demands
Jason Earle had no right to make demands, much less insist that she go to England to see David Morton, her grandfather. After all, the old man had ignored Eden for years.
True, Jason, his emissary, was breathtakingly handsome and a media magnate, as well. But that didn't give him power over Eden.
Yet she did go. The shock of her grandfather's death marred her arrival and removed him from her life. It also bound her irrevocably to the devastating Jason.
Favourite Scene: (banter!)
‘Be my guest,’ he drawled. ‘Or whatever else you want to be,’ he added huskily. ‘I’m open to offers.’
‘If I have to pay for my room and board in that way I’d rather go to a hotel!’ she lied.
He was still smiling that infuriating smile. ‘You don’t have to do anything. I was just wondering whether you’d care to share your room.’
‘No, I wouldn’t,’ she told him stiffly.
‘Not used to waking up and finding the man still in bed with you in the morning?’ he taunted.
‘That’s right!’ Eden snapped angrily.

Favourite Scene:
'Now that I've found you I don't want to say anything. Oh God, Hazel, why did you come back!'
'I had to, Rafe. I had to!' she cried. And she knew it was true. It hadn't been Celia's telegram that had brought her home, she would have come back eventually without that.
'I know,' he groaned. 'And in a way I'm glad that you did. But I'm finding it so difficult keeping my hands off you.'
But his hands were on her, sending electric thrills up and down her spine.
Black-Tie Seduction by Cindy Gerard (SD 1665)
Back Cover:
She and Jake were polar opposites. Which was why his insistence that they date made no sense to Christine. Yet, if she wanted that mysterious box he'd outbid her on during the town auction, having dinner with the sexy Texan seemed her only recourse.
Christine vowed she'd find something to throw Mr. Thorne-in-her-side's attention off her plan. Like the newly made-over Christine. And by his reaction to her little black dress, she'd found just the thing to keep his interest while she worked on a plan to steal away her prize. But was it possible catching Thorne would be her ultimate reward?
My Review:
Yum yum!!! I want to scream "keeper" with this one, but I'm not 100% sure, I might have just had a bad day of reading books and this one was just great by comparison. I loved it. So light-hearted, great humour, I laughed out loud, I smirked. I loved that the hero had an almost involuntary compulsion to tease and torment his heroine. Yummy! The first chapter of this book was totally a reenactment of Anne Shirley & Gilbert Blythe (from Anne of Green Gables), he teased because underneath he was attracted, and she bristled with chagrin. Totally loveable. I can't see anyone reading this and hating it. I loved the little battle of the sexes they had.
