Diane Peters dreamed of a life in the big city but her sister has been taking care of the family since their father died so Diane feels it's her turn. On the way back to her mother's after a job interview, she comes across a car wreck with 2 small children in the car and their mother. She called the doctor's office to get a doctor on the scene. She was surprised when the young and handsome Jeff Hausen showed up, claiming to be the doctor. The last she knew Cactus's doctor was the elderly Doc. Diane has promised to care for the children while their mother recuperates, but then the family home burns down. Now she needs a place to stay, somewhere where she can care for the two children and also her younger brother who received a minor burn while helping to put out the fire. Since Jeff has three extra bedrooms he invites Diane, with the two children and her brother to stay with him. Diane is reluctant because she doesn't want a life in Cactus, marriage or children and being so close to Jeff could shatter her resolve. Jeff knows he shouldn't be thinking of Diane as anything more than a temporary house guest. He liked life in the small town. His wife had been a career woman. Their marriage had been strained plus it never produced children. So these two wanted very different things from life. But with the matchmakers in Cactus working against them how long can they resist each other?

Favourite Scene: (this scene just burst with enthusiasm)

'I can wait another five months,' she had laughed joyfully. 'And I want a traditional wedding, too. Bridesmaids, bouquets-the lot!'

'And children?' he had asked deeply, his eyes intense. 'Lots of children.'

Tears filled her eyes as she buried her face in his neck. 'Hundreds of them. All the living image of you. And I'll call them all Jared. Jared the Second, the third, the fourth--'
