Chronicles of Narnia

The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis (unabridged audio)

challenge_name:

Last / 7th book in the Chronicles of Narnia. As far as storyline, this is exactly what it sounds like . . . it begins, "In the final days of Narnia . . ." We meet many of our old friends and new ones. For readers looking at the philosophy and spirituality messages, well, I imagine that there have been heated discussions and papers written about this book. I think it has more things to think about than the others. Print and CDs should be easily available at your bookstore or library. Audio also available at audible.com Read by Patrick Stewart. NFM

The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis (unabridged audio)

challenge_name:

Sixth published in The Chronicles of Narnia. In Narnian time, this one comes first. Friends Digory and Polly find themselves magically in Narnia when it is created. Unfortunately, they've brought an Evil with them. To hold it back a few hundred years, Aslan plants a protective tree. Really good read. Almost done with my "Narnia" re-reads and regret it's been so very many years. From Harper Audio or audible.com (print or audio CD should be easily found at library or bookstore). Read by Kenneth Branagh. NFM

The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis (unabridged audio)

Read by Alex Jennings. Book & CDs should be easily available at your bookstore or library. Audio also available at audible.com. NFM

Audio also at audible.com (check your library, too). Read by Jeremy Northam. NFM

challenge_name:

Second book written in the Chronicles of Narnia. The four Pevensie children are back in Narnia to help Prince Caspian onto his throne (his uncle has taken it). In 2005, Harper Audio released the CoN read by different famous actors. Really well-done productions. Print should be easy to find. Audio from audible.com (check your library, too -- mine has several copies). Read by Lynn Redgrave. NFM

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis (unabridged audio)

challenge_name:

Can it be a classic if it was written in 1950? I would say, "Yes?" I hadn't read this in more years than I care to admit. Harper Audio released the Chronicles of Narnia with some excellent readers (also famous actors) a few years back. I bo't this from audible.com last year, knowing we'd listen over and over. Really good production. Print should be easy to find. Audio available from audible.com (check your library, too, mine has several copies). Read by Michael York. NFM
