Book 22 - Dragon Heat by Allyson James
One book leads to another...
This one followed Persecuted by Lisa Childs since the heroine in this book was named Lisa Singleton.
Annette Curtis Klause: Freaks: Alive, on the Inside!
"When a boy's first romantic interlude is with Phoebe the Dog-Faced Girl, he feels a need to get out into the world and find a new life."
The Cipher
I enjoyed this a lot. Magic, a royal family, intrigue and romance. Lucy Trenton, a minor royal, works as a customs officer but has secrets of her own -- mainly that she has obtained ciphers, magical keys/tools, and is being blackmailed about her secret.
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
The Sorceress of Belmair
Dragons, and faeries and kings....oh MY!
I had NO idea what I was in for when I picked up Bertrice Small's latest installment in the World of Hetar. Well, that's not entirely true. I read the back cover copy which promised magical gifts and dark secrets and forgotten worlds....all good. There's even a double moon on the cover behind a haughty faced woman in pink, and she's holding what looks like a magical sceptre...even better. What I wasn't prepared for was the SEX!!
Kate Elliott, THE SPIRIT GATE
Kate Elliott's The Spirit Gate was a deep and satisfying read, as I've come to expect from her. I liked the complexity of her worldbuilding. Even the good guys had shades of gray, that made me want to read more about them. She made people being carried around by giant eagles seem realistic, and made the eagles individuals.
Keepers of the Flame by Robin D Owens
Book Blurb: The sorcerers of Lladrana have already Summoned three women to help fight the evil attacking their world. Yet their fourth Summoning brings the unexpected—twin sisters. And ones with strong ties to Earth.
Patricia Briggs, MOON CALLED
Patricia Briggs' Moon Called seems to be part of a trend in fantasy/paranormal romance, in which the romance continues over several books and its outcome is uncertain, as in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. Once the situation is resolved and a definitive pairing is established, though, different techniques come into play to maintain the readers' interest, as in J.D.
