Fantasy/Romance
Irresistible Forces - 3 in 1
Read in 2008 before registering for the challenge. Book includes:
Trouble with Heroes, the Beverley, Jo
Alchemical Marriage, the Putney, Mary Jo
Shadows in the Wood Roberson, Jennifer
The Jo Beverley story was a bit unexpected, compared to her other stories, but I enjoyed it immensely.
Kushiel's Scion
This the excellent continuation of Carey's Kushiel series. This is the first of a new trilogy that follows the life of Prine Imriel, the adopted son of the courtesan Phedre.
#50 – Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan (Tor, 2005)
"Xylara is the Daughter of the Warrior King, Xyron. With her father dead and her incompetent half-brother on the throne, the kingdom is in danger of falling to the warring Firelanders. Before she was old enough for a marriage-of-alliance, Xylara was trained as a healer. She can't usurp her brother or negotiate a peace--but she can heal the brave ones injured in battle.
But not only her countrymen are wounded, and Xylara's conscience won't let Firelander warriors die when she can do something to save them. She learns their language and their customs and tries to make them as comfortable as possible, despite their prisoner-of-war status. She never expects that these deeds, done in good faith, would lead to the handsome and mysterious Firelander Warlord demanding her in exchange for a cease-fire. Xylara knows must trade the life she has always known for the well-being of her people, and so she becomes the... Warprize."

Patricia Briggs, MOON CALLED
Patricia Briggs' Moon Called seems to be part of a trend in fantasy/paranormal romance, in which the romance continues over several books and its outcome is uncertain, as in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. Once the situation is resolved and a definitive pairing is established, though, different techniques come into play to maintain the readers' interest, as in J.D.
Keepers of the Flame
This is the fourth in the Lladrana series. Bri and Elizabeth Drystan are both in the healing profession. Bri acknowledges her healing abilities where Elizabeth denies it and works as a doctor in a hospital. They are both summoned to fight the Dark attacking Lladrana.
This was a fascinating story. All of Robin's books intrigue me and I love her characters.
