History

This is book 9 in the History of US series. This one covers United States History from the end of WWI through WWII. Written to the reader, it includes many photos and source quotes. I've been working my way through the series and cannot recommend these books highly enough, whatever your age. One note: The books are currently on the 3rd edition.

This tells the story of Cynthia Ann Parker who was abducted while a child in 1836. It tells of her transformation of a "white" to an Indian. How she learned to forget the "white ways" and become an Indian. How she hunted, rode and fought beside the others in her tribe and eventually became the mother to one of the great chiefs of the era, Quannah Parker.

This was really good. About Cynthia Ann Parker who was abducted by a band of Cammanches in 1836. Told through the diaries of Lucy Parker but was written so well that you can picture everything. A very good accounting of life back then and one poor women's hardships in two different world's the white man's and the Indian. A very good read.

This book is written by men who actually went on the raid.  Was it a suicide mission?  The orders for the mission came from Gen. George S. Patton himself.  Task Force Baum was to act as am armored strike force behind the German enemy lines - with no ground or air support - and liberate a POW camp at Himmelburg where Patton's son-in-law was being held captive.

     Is there any greater joy for a confessed readaholic than when a nice big box from Amazon arrives at the door?  Only when said wonderful big box contains a book this reader has been anxiously awaiting for since the previous book in the series was published in 2005.  So it was with much fan-girl glee that I pounced on the final book in Morgan Llywelyn's Irish Century series, 1999.
