Julie Miller ~ Armed and Devastating ~ HI #1073 / The Precinct: Brotherhood of the Badge [217]
I LOVED Atticus and Brooke's story ~ the old friend / new love theme is one that I really, really like and watching Atticus come to terms with the fact that the feelings that his "little sister" engendered were much more than fraternal. Brooke was a wonderful character ~ shy yes, but she was also very intelligent, level-headed and willing to put herself out there. Her loyalty and feelings for the Kincaid family were returned... but she did have this problem of not being able to see Atticus as an older brother the way she was able to view Sawyer, Edward and Holden. And the mystery behind the Kincaid patriarch's murder is becoming deeper and extremely intense. There's definitely a very nasty person around and I can hardly wait to read both Holden's and Edward's stories... and I really, really want to find out just what the heck is going on!
Julie Miller has done it again ~ but then I've felt that way regardless of the story I've read. VERY, VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Excellence: Excellent ++ ~ 4.5 stars

Julie Miller ~ Protective Instincts ~ HI #1070 / The Precinct: Brotherhood of the Badge [216]
I had thought that I had read this book already... but what I'd read was the preview awhile ago. So when my order arrived with the second book in this series ~ Armed and Devastating ~ and I realized that I had not, indeed, read Sawyer's story I went out searching. All I can say is thank heaven that I found this book yesterday so that I could proceed onto the next one. Of course all the hurrying up now leads up to waiting, but for more Julie Miller books, I can wait!
This was right up there with the rest of Julie's books set in Kansas City; by that I mean it was Outstanding and Fabulous! We meet up again with characters from a couple of her previous KC books ~ namely Mitch Taylor (One Good Man) and Seth Cartwright (Up Against a Wall) ~ and this is one reason, just one reason mind, that I love Julie Miller's books. Not only does she write exciting, gripping and involving stories, but her characters are all very memorable; they're people that you care about and, once you get to know them, they're there in your heart and mind ~ they're family! So having the opportunity to revisit any of them is a real treat.
Regarding the Kincaid brothers... hoo boy! This is going to be one excellent mini-series. We've seen a bit of each of the brothers in Sawyer's story... and I am very impatiently awaiting their stories let me tell you!... but I have a feeling that Edward's is going to be an emotional journey the likes of a couple of my very favourite Julie Miller books. Regardless, Sawyer is one wonderful, wonderful man and I think his story was perfect and a terrific way to start our relationship with more of the cops from the Fourth Precinct in Kansas City. VERY, VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! (any and ALL of Julie Miller's books!!)
