The Landi$ Brothers

This is the first of the Landis Brothers, BUT it is also the last of the Beachcomber three foster sisters. I have wondered what had happened to them and now I know. And the restaurant, so sad and happy what happens to it. But of course we get our happy endings all around. I really liked Ashley in this story. She was strong and considerate and a good politician's spouse.

Sebastian and Marianna Landis are finally divorced. Ever since they lost baby Sophie to her birth mother their marriage had been on the rocks. An indiscretion after their divorce was final has lead Marianna back to Sebastian with the news that she’s pregnant.

After reporters catch senate candidate, Matthew Landis, in a compromising position with Ashley Carson, he proposes a fake engagement to take some of the heat off her. After her first reaction of refusing him, she finally accepts. Not to take heat off herself but to help Matthew because this kind of thing could influence a drop in the numbers in the polls for him. After there is a fire at Beachcombers she also relents to move to his house (technically she is living in the family home and he is in the carriage house out back). For reasons he can't explain he starts treating Ashley as more than a fake fiancée.
