Fire and Desire
Two years ago, Corinthians Avery made a big mistake--she walked into the wrong man's hotel room intent on seduction, and found sexy Trevor Grant instead. Since that fateful night, neither of them have been able to forget the desire the other inflamed.
Ice Station by Matthew J. Reilly (St. Martin's Press, 1999)
This wasn’t bad. In fact, it was much more interesting and compelling than the cover blurb makes it seem.
From the inside cover:
“At a remote ice station in Antarctica, a team of U.S. scientists has made an amazing discovery. They have found something buried deep within the coastal ice shelf. Something trapped inside a 100-million-year-old layer of ice.
“Something made of metal.

If this book had been a standalone I probably would not have gotten it, never mind read it; but because it was part of the Bachelor Battalion series, I had to read it... and am I ever glad that I did! Appearances are not everything... and I should know that. Glad to see that this truism once again proves itself valid.

Excellence: Great to Very Good ~ 3 stars
Steaminess: Sensual

Even though it is now March, I'm behind in my reviews for the February Cahllenge ~ One Thing Leads to Another. This is the first of four of my February books... and I've told myself that I can't start the March challenge until I'm done the reviews... which actually means that I cannot read until I'm done! That's pretty powerful motive for me.
This is the third of Maureen Child's Bachelor Battalion series books that I have and the series is still just as enjoyable. I'm definitely going to be doing a backlist hunt of the titles that I don't have... and of the fourteen that I know of I only have four, so you can see that I've got a way to go. But it'll be fun!

Excellence: Excellent to Outstanding ~ 4.5 stars

63. Maureen Child ~ The Daddy Salute ~ SD #1275 February 2000 [Bachelor Battalion]
For a story with the prototypical baby-on-the-doorstep the back story was, I thought, very well set-up and explained. I loved the varied relationships that the H had with the people around him… and there were some great scenes that were laugh-out-loud funny. I could also see the h’s dilemma with falling in love; it wasn’t as far-fetched as some scenarios that I’ve read have been ~ and you do need the seemingly insurmountable problem with the romance. Another excellent chapter in another first-rate series!
RATING:
Excellence: Excellent ~ 4 stars
Steaminess: Sensual
24. Susan Andersen ~ Coming Undone ~ HQN Romance
I’ve had this book in my TBR since the book was released… I know, I know… what the HECK was I thinking? I really must have forgotten the impact that Susan Andersen’s stories have for me, ‘cause otherwise this book would have been read within days of my acquiring instead of months. *Sheesh*
