This is exactly as exciting as it sounds. I had to read the entire book for class, two chapters a week, so I figured I might as well post it here and have it count towards the site totals.
#514 Valley of the Vapors - Janet Dailey
Tisha is sick and tired of her father trying to run her lovelife so she goes to stay with her aunt and meets the aunt’s obnoxious neighbour Roarke. Then when she’s doing her aunt a favour she gets trapped in Roarke’s house and the following morning her dad shows up and insists she and Roarke get married. Is a marriage to this obnoxious man the only solution?
#513 Summer Mahogany - Janet Dailey
Gina sees Rhyder at a party ten years after the summer she had a crush on him. They’d got married but the marriage was annulled. Or was it? Will their second chance at love be more successful?
Arrogance, no communication, stupid misunderstandings – everything that originally put me off this type of romance. Fans might love it.
Down from the Mountain by Barbara Gale SSE 1595 - Feb 2004
Okay, this book was weird. While reading it, instead
of thinking of the characters, I kept picturing a middle-aged British woman writing it at her typewriter. Why? Because of her writing style, I guess. Some of the phrases were more European than N. American. Also, things would crop up that should have been hinted at in previous scenes. This gave me the impression that the author used a typewriter instead of a word processor. So, in places where those of us writers who use a computer would pull up the required scene and make the adjustment, this author didn't...she'd just pop it in and keep writing. Inconsistencies abound. I think one example was when I sometimes read of David's accident being fifteen yrs before and then I'd read and it was twenty yrs before or something. Of course, I may be way off my mark, but this is the impression I got from reading this book.

I was really looking forward to this one based on the great reviews. This book had elements I'd normally enjoy: a crime-solving journalist, the historical connection to the Wild West. But flat characters, a focus more on Henry's incredibly pathetic love life, and a complete lack of shades of grey left me bored. (Warning: this gets ranty.)
#115 Love Like That -- Amanda Hill (RDI)
Dalton has two lovers, Jeremy who's no good for her and who already has a girlfriend, and Roman who's charming and good for her but who's always away somewhere. Then Roman has to go to Africa for six months so he proposes before he leaves. While he's away Jeremy and his girlfriend break up, so Jeremy and Dalton spend more time together.
#112 Wishes Come True - Kathleen Nance (Lovespell)
Zoe doesn't believe in magic but is persuaded to join her friend in conjuring a djinn and is flabbergasted to see Simon appear (naked), but then she doesn't want to use her wishes because she can't depend on magic to solve her problems. Simon was betrayed by his first love and cursed by her father and he doesn't trust selfish humans.
#104 The Challoner Bride - Stephanie James (Silhouette Romance)
Angie is sent to retrieve a dagger for her uncle and meets Flynn but she's unsure about her host so she asks Flynn for his help. Then she realises Flynn is also interested in the dagger. Has she fallen in love with a man who only wanted the dagger?
#66 The accidental Bridegroom - Ann Major (SD #889) 11/94
Rafe almost got killed for his night with Cathy, but her stepfather paid him off and never told him she was pregnant. Now she's about to marry another man but Rafe has just found out he's a father. Can he persuade Cathy to change bridegrooms? What will her stepfather do to stop Rafe this time?
#53 Snowbound Baby by Susan Meier (M&B/Silhouette Romance)
Cooper is on his way to deliver a cheque to his brothers to cover his mortgage when he stops to help out snowbound single mother Zoe. But when the snow melts will he be leaving without his heart?
