When I started the first book in this connected trilogy ~ and OH how I wish that Julie Miller had written at least two other stories... one for each of the other men in Colonel Ramsey's team.... *sigh* ~ I had no idea that they were connected, but I soon discovered this fact and was very pleased to think that I had managed to find all three books.... Nice!
The three stories are all, indeed, much more along the lines of paranormal, or more exactly, fantasy stories: Immortality, spirit walkers and angels making mistakes, all definitely different from Julie Miller's later books... but I enjoyed them just as much. Julie is such a fantastic writer and her characters come to life, so regardless of whether or not they're "real" people is moot... in all the ways that count, her characters are real enough that the reader, or at least this reader, can connect on an emotional level. And their adventures are thrilling, fast-paced and all-absorbing. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Excellence: Excellent ~ 4.0 stars

I loved this book - it's got some serious kick-ass action and really steamy love scenes. It is the characters and their intimacy that draws you in. Both have their demons they are fighting (her- sickness, him - an actual beast). Very emotional stuff.
Towards the end of Julie Miller's Immortal Heart I had the notion that all three of her paranormal romances were connected: when I checked ~ lo and behold ~ they were.... Lovely!!
NOTE: of course if I had checked Julie's website again, I'd have noticed that the books are, indeed, part of a series ~ LadyTech... or The Ladies of LadyTech

When I finished the first book I was so thrilled to be able to delve immediately into the second book and it was just as wonderful as I'd thought it would be. Hawk is a Shaman among his people and able to walk the spirit world. Knowing the dangers that Sarah McCormick and her girls could come up against on Tenebrosa, Hawk makes sure that he will be there to protect them; after all he knows of the evil of the island first-hand.
Sarah is determined to share this adventure with her students... if Hawk wants to come along, well she can't talk him out of it so she'll do what she does ~ accept his presence. She comes up against far more than she bargained for: she and Hawk face the danger together and, in the end, save each other and discover a power greater than any evil.

Boy, I love eBay... you can find the neatest treasures there... and I happened to find all three of Julie Miller's paranormal romances ~ WAHOO!
Immortal Heart is very much a fantasy / paranormal story, but it's also a wonderful romance and what I love about Julie Miller's writing ~ her descriptiveness, her imagination and her ability to create characters with whom I connect ~ are all present in this story. A wonderful tale of a love that gives completely ~ enough to break a centuries-old curse ~ and a classic battle, given a modern twist, of good against evil.
If you have the chance to find and read this story, and you enjoy stories from the fantasy / paranormal genre, then do so. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!
