Regency romance
Claudia Dain, The Courtesan's Daughter
Claudia Dain, The Courtesan's Daughter: I felt like the heroine's mother was the real heroine of this book. It's a Regency drawing room comedy of seduction and errors that gets convoluted at times.

258. Anthology ~ A Wife for Papa ~ Zebra Regency Romance [May 2004]
I do enjoy a good regency tale, and all three of these were very enjoyable regency stories. I only have one minor complaint: the title of the anthology is A Wife for Papa, yet the second story doesn't deal with a father, but a widow and her son. Minor, yep... but still. . . .
Disregarding my irritation, each of the stories was a wonderful depiction of romance. I do so love stories where each of the main characters is a strong person ~ even though they may be quiet ~ and complete unto themselves; but they find someone that answers something within ~ and each of these stories does that very nicely. I got this book primarily for Hayley Ann Solomon's story. A few years ago I found one of her books and was intrigued by the blurb on the back... that one story was enough to make me very interested in finding anything of hers.

Bethany Brooks, Her Perfect Earl
Bethany Brooks, Her Perfect Earl: Classics Geeks In Love. This was really sweet, and had echoes of the movie "The Sound of Music" in the distant father with his assortment of children and the governess who enchants them all.
Masquerading Mistress by Sophia James (HH #875 - December 2007). Regency.
A good book but not my favourite by this author.
From the back cover:
The war-scarred Thornton Lindsay, Duke of Penborne, can scarcely believe the news when a beautiful stranger comes to London proclaiming to be his lover.
244. Anthology ~ Talk of the Ton ~ Jove Romance (May 2005)
This was a VERY enjoyable anthology ~ and I'll certainly be looking for books by all of the authors. I do really enjoy Regency romances... and I adore the happy endings for the H's and h's. Each one of these four stories has a definite charm and, indeed, in writing this review I nearly started to read the stories again ~ I like them all that much. As to pick out a favourite story? Sorry, I just can't do it. This book was one of those unexpected treasures that you can find from time to time ~ I've so glad that I did. The overall rating for the anthology is the same as I gave each story: 4.5 stars of 5
243. Anthology ~ Spring Kittens ~ Zebra Regency Romance (March 2000)
I looked for this book for a long, LONG time and finally ~ and very unexpectedly found it ~ at my last UBS trade... excited much? Yep... and it was just as great as I'd hoped!
VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
242. Anthology ~ Valentine Kittens ~ Zebra Regency Romance (January 2005)
This is the second "Kittens" anthology that I've read ~ with a third up next.
"Even Cupid sometimes needs assistance, and in this charming collection ofbrand-new stories from three of your favorite Regency authors, kittens lead the way to love!"
As the blurb above mentions, each of these stories features a kitten, or kittens, upon which the meeting, or the romance, or some other major event, turn. Personally I adore kittens and I enjoy Regency romances a lot. All three of the stories in this anthology are very enjoyable and each of them receive the same rating of 4.5 stars of 5
238. Anthology (HSpR) ~ A Regency Invitation to the House Party of the Season ~ 2005
This was another recent acquisition through a UBS trade; the biggest reason that I got it was because it contains a story by one of my favourite HH writers Elizabeth Rolls ~ finding her older stories is HARD!...and consequently frustrating... unless you manage to find treasures like this. Turns out that this anthology of connected stories was a treasure all the way through... Loved the whole thing! All three authors did a marvelous job tying everything together even though each story appears to be written independently of the others. Very well done!
OVERALL RATING:
Excellence: Excellent ++ ~ 4.5 stars of 5 ... VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Madeleine Robins, The Heiress Companion
Madeleine Robins, The Heiress Companion: this is a Regency romance from the 1980s, by an author who went on to write science fiction, media tie-ins, and some nifty detective novels set in an alternate universe Regency. The Heiress Companion is sweet and very reminiscent of Ge
