Secrets in the Nations Capitol

The Lost Symbol

Wow, what an excellent book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Well worth reading it. If you’ve never read a Dan Brown book before, I would definitely recommend this one, especially as it takes place in our nation’s capitol. I would recommend this book to anyone I know, and I already have…
I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll leave it at being a great book!

This story was an unusual read for me. It is written entirely in letter format, from the perspective of a few different characters, so it is very interesting to see how they each view events that occur. I have to say once I got into it, it was very good. It starts out with a young woman (A.E.

Why People Believe Wierd things

This is the type of book you can pick up and start reading anywhere it falls open. It's full of interesting information on how our thinking goes wrong leading to witch burning, holocaust denial, quack medicine, and conspiracy theories.

A post-apocalyptic novel. It took me a while to get into this one, and then just about the time I was really starting to enjoy it, it ended…and I really didn’t like the way it ended. The science/ideas behind the novel were pretty interesting, however, so if you like sci-fi, this one’s probably worth your effort.

Sex, Drugs and DNA by Michael Stebbins

This is a great read! If you want to know about stem cell research, cloning, the state of sex education, global warming, what the US government is really doing about bio-terorrism, and a whole lot more, this book is for you.

I love Mary Roach as a general rule.  Stiff and Spook were both really wonderful.  This one is the least favorite of the three.  It's plenty funny, no mistake.  But maybe I prefer to think about sex in a more mystic, less scientific, way.  I did love the story about the woman who had an orgasm every time she brushed her teeth though.

Definitely a movie ready read—though I don’t know if the subject matter would translate as much, since religion is tied throughout the story. And fundamentalists come out quite bad in general, and rather one sided.
