Favourite Scene:
He drew in a sharp breath. ‘Are you absolutely certain you can’t be pregnant from our time together last night?’
She blinked. ‘You came back here at one o’clock in the morning to ask me that?’ she said incredulously.
No, of course he hadn’t come back here just to ask her that!
But it seemed as good a place as any to start this conversation…
‘Are you certain?’ he repeated insistently.
‘No, of course not. But—’
‘Would you like to be?’
Public Wife, Private Mistress by Sarah Morgan (HP 2532)
Back Cover:
Only one woman can help arrogant Rico Crisant's injured sister: his estranged wife, Anastasia.
In public: Rico demands that Stasia be the perfect wife--loyal, doting and faithful!
In Private: She will be a slave to his passionate demands. However, Rico hadn't bargained on becoming infatuated with Stasia.
Stasia fears that once Rico's sister recovers she will be cast aside...Will her role as Rico's wife be over for good?
Favourite Quote:
Stasia wished he'd stop staring at her hair. She recognized that look in his eyes and it was all she could do not to groan out loud. She knew he was seconds away from sliding a possessive hand into her tangled curls and exposing her throat to the heat of his mouth. The seductive stroke of his fingers in her hair had always been a prelude to the most incredible mind-blowing sex. Her breathing quickened.
The Sicilian's Marriage Arrangement by Lucy Monroe (HP 2604)
Back Cover:
Hope Bishop is stunned when darkly sexy Sicilian tycoon Luciano di Valerio proposes marriage. Brought up by her wealthy but distant grandfather, she is used to fading into the background and being ignored.
But Luciano's sensual lovemaking makes her feel vibrantly alive. Hope falls in love with her husband and is blissfully happy-until she discovers that Luciano ruthlessly married her-for convenience!
Favourite Quote: (he wants her to promise not to be alone with other men)
"You’re being ridiculous. What do you want me to do, run from the room if I’m alone and another man comes into it?”
When he looked like he might agree, she glared at him. “That’s not going to happen.”
Pregnancy of Passion by Lucy Monroe (HP 2590)
Back Cover:
It was a year since their tempestuous affair had ended. So why was he back? Elisa trusted Salvatore di Vitale as far as she could throw him. And, as the wealthy Sicilian was over six feet tall, that wasn't very far.
Salvatore told Elisa he had come to protect her. And if their close proximity led to passion...and if passion should lead to pregnancy...all the better! Because then Elisa would have to marry him, which was Salvatore's plan all along.
My Review:
I loved Pregnancy of Passion. The hero and heroine were lovers who broke up a year ago because of a miscarriage (and him stupidly thinking he wasn't the father). The hero said that from the moment she told him about the baby, he considered them married in his eyes, and he acted accordingly. He chased her, he watched over her, he felt she was his, he was faithful, he valued her as his and put her safety above everything else. *sigh* That was a strong warm love that just made me feel real good.
A Sicilian Seduction by Michelle Reid (HP 2175)
The hero's sister is married to the heroine's (secret) father. The hero thinks the heroine is his brother-in-law's mistress and wants to fire her from her job at his company and get her out of his family's life. Then he decides he is attracted to her and wants vengeance in bed, which is much more satisfying. But whoops, he forgets to use protection, and he takes this as an excuse to tie her to his side for at least a month until they know if she's pregnant or not. He thinks that if she is pregnant, it's simple and they will marry of course. He worries more about what will happen if she isn't, because he doesn't want to let her go but he can't hold onto her for many reasons. Once the truth comes out about who the heroine's father is, how will things change?
This was an interesting premise, I love a good revenge story. I don't think this was Michelle Reid's best work though, there was something lacking, the characters weren't as compelling compared to her other books, the hero was a little stilted and exagerated in how he went cold-hot (he decided to reject her, then decided to continue seducing her over and over again, wavering from his course). The Markonos Bride and The Salvatore Marriage are books by MR which were keepers for me. If you don't have time to get through all the books on your TBR, go with one of those instead.
Rating: 3/5 stars, not a bad read, but other books by MR stand out much more. NFM
The Sicilian's Marriage Arrangement by Lucy Monroe ... QC #142
4 ½ Stars! ~~~ These are great characters and they are so wonderfully matched. I hope these two get revisited in another of Lucy’s books!
