The State of Parenthood
A Daddy for Christmas by Laura Marie Altom, HAR, Nov08 #1233
Jess Cummings needs help with her ranch and daughters. Gage needs a change in his life. There is plenty of grief to go around for everyone. Can they get past their grief and find love?
Not my cup of tea. I could not get swept away. Everything about this book seemed too improbable, unrealistic and just unbelievable for me. Thumbs down!

A Dad for her Twins by Tanya Michaels, HAR Sep08, #1225
Kenzie Green relocates which upsets her twins. She is temporarily living across the hall from an artist. JT has suffered a loss that has left him a recluse; soon he finds his peace shattered. Can Kenzie and JT rebuild their lives?
Upon closing this book, I involuntarily sighed. It was high on the satisfaction meter. I would consider this a ‘feel good’ read. Do they each have something to overcome? Yes. But they do it with grace. I’m not quite sure why I had such a hard time getting into the book, but I did. I even abandoned it to read another book. This is something I just don’t do. For me it had a bit of a slow start—the hook was not there for me, but this may have been more about a reading slump I am in—not the book. Thumbs up.

Texas Lullaby (The State Of Parenthood) AR 1213
Cowboy Dad by Cathy McDavid, Harlequin AR Aug08 #1221
Natalie has fallen for a cowboy in the past and it did not serve her well. Widowed cowboy and former rodeo champion, Aaron must meet the terms of his former wife’s will. He comes back to her family’s ranch, but is not greeted with open arms. Natalie is head of guest services at the ranch. Will she fall for another cowboy?
For the most part I liked this story. My problems with the story where not necessarily flaws in the story as much as a different life view. For the lover of westerns I would say go ahead and try this story. Aaron is a very likeable character.
