The Manning Sisters is actually two of Debbie Macomber's earlier books reissued in one volumne.  These stories have stood the test of time.

The Cowboys Lady  Originally published in 1990

I loved Tanya Michaels' Trouble in Tennessee, so of course I had to get my hands on the follow-up, An Unlikely Mommy.

The story: Ronnie Carter is a mechanic and doesn't see herself as mommy material, but then she falls for Jason McDeere, a father to a little girl.

One of the first things I heard on this audio was a disclaimer that times have changed and what was acceptable in 1982 may not be acceptable now. That made me curious. Listening to Joyce Bean tell the story, I could see why the disclaimer was there. We were definitely dealing with an alpha male (not one of my fav heros) among other things.

Unfortunately, this anthology was not my favorite and I can't say I really liked even one of the stories.

Bk #45--Synopsis: Brett Bishop made a big mistake more than ten years ago and is paying for it by a self-imposed exile from his family. Living in Barlow Ridge is fairly isolated and he's determined to maintain a distance from anyone in town--including his brother's sil and his new tenant Claire Flynn.

Bk #44--Synopsis: Will Bishop is a single father with a secret. Having been hurt by his ex-wife, he's in no hurry to get back up on the horse (hee hee) and try again. Until he meets Reagan Flynn.

Harriet Weatherspoon is living a quiet life as a high school english teacher in small town New South Wales in Australia.  She's got a passion for books and is even writing a play, mostly autobiographical telling of how her fiancé was stolen by her sister and she remains a virgin, etc. - so she's excited when her mother informs her that Brad Barrington the popular author is coming for dinner.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. Not as much as book 3 but a close second. This is Maggie and Wayne's story.

I wanted to like the book, as others raved about it. I was disappointed.
