I Burn For You
I enjoy reading paranormal romances, especially vampire related ones. There's just something so dark and sensual about them. This one definitely tops the list! Sizemore does a phenominal job of weaving a story of the vampire and their culture, yet keeping it very much modern. It's dark and sexy and impossible to put down.

Favourite Scene:
Relieved he was alive, she tried to shake him again. "Hey, yummy leather guy? Can you hear me?"
"All right, macho babe boy," she said irritably. "I'm not some little ditz to bat my eyelashes at the buff stud in black leather. Don't try your he-man tactics with me. I'll have you know, in my office I'm known as the ball-breaker."
Kyrian frowned at her. "Macho babe boy?" he repeated in disbelief.
"Buff stud in black leather," he repeated out loud. "I don't think I've ever been more insulted."
Lynsay Sands ~ Vampire, Interrupted ~ Avon (Mar 08) ~ An Argeneau Novel [209]
Oh boy, oh boy, oh WOW!
I loved Marguerite's story... and there were more than a couple of surprises I must say! Like the story before, Vampires Are Forever, there was a lot more darkness, tension and suspense than I'm used to from Lynsay Sands' Immortals / Argeneau Family stories; but that in no way lessens the impact. Truthfully there were a few times when I could not stop laughing... Poor Tiny! His introduction to Julius was not very friendly.
But for those of us reading, it was extremely hilarious!
So if you've been following the Argeneau Family, you've got to check this out... so nice to see Marguerite on the other end of the matchmaking coin!
VERY, VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Excellence: Excellent+ ~ 4.5 stars

Lynsay Sands ~ Vampires Are Forever ~ Avon (Feb 08) ~ An Argeneau Novel [208]
Like the rest of the books in Lynsay Sands' Argeneau Family novels, I nearly laughed myself sick; until I was no longer laughing but biting my nails instead. There's been tension and suspense in other stories in this series, but none quite as much as this story... and I'm warning you now, have the next book ~ Vampire, Interrupted ~ at hand so that when you've finished this one you can jump right in.
I'm only a short way way through the next book ~ finally we get Marguerite's story ~ but they definitely, definitely overlap action-wise. And yet again, I'm biting my nails... in between outright guffawing.
Never did say I was in the least lady-like!
Anyway, this is another book ~ both in this series and this month ~ that I VERY, VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Dark Needs at Night's Edge
Book 4. Nice twist with heroine being a ghost.
Lara Adrian ~ Midnight Rising ~ Dell Paranormal Romance (April 2008) [202]
Excellent, excellent story and a wonderful continuation of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. I really love the story behind the Breed vampires and their place in this world. It's such a scientific ~ okay fantasy / scientific ~ explanation... and it works very well. Getting more background on the Breed and going deeper into a growing evil made for a fascinating story ~ one that will join the other books in the series on my keeper shelves ~ and have me very impatient to get the next book in the series. I can hardly wait!
VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Keri Arthur ~ The Darkest Kiss ~ Dell Spectra Fantasy (May 08) Riley Jenson, Guardian [200]
Well, I reached 200... and I even realized it before I started reading ~ Bonus! I did make a conscious choice of Keri Arthur's sixth book in her Riley Jenson, Guardian series ~ The Darkest Kiss ~ as my 200th read. It's a series that I totally love and I've been holding onto this book for a couple of months... what better reasons, right?
This story was everything I expected ~ and even a little more. Both Riley and her twin Rhoan are maturing, both looking for more than just casual relationships ~ good to see. The background characters ~ Kade, horse-shifter and fellow Guardian; Jack, Riley's boss in the Directorate; Sal, Riley's nemesis and go-to person when on a case; Liander, Rhoan's lover and soul mate ~ are still present and becoming more fleshed out and people in their own rights. And the action ratchets up another couple of notches: there's also some great foreshadowing for future books... definitely going to see more of Vinny I expect.
