4 ½ Hearts! ~~~ What is it about a tortured hero that is so appealing?   This is Bevan's story and he's plagued by guilt that he had been unable to protect his wife from the raiding Normans.   He's vowed never to wed or bed another woman and this vow tortures him when he rescues Genevieve from her brutal betrothed.   Wedding her himself is not what he desires, however it is the only way to return his lands to his ownership and to see that she is safe from harm.   A delicious lovestory!   I loved how Genevieve captures his heart!

Cheryl St John has written a great book for her first Love Inspired novel. After writing many Harlequin Historicals which have a higher level of sensuality, the author still conveyed the emotions and conflict necessary to an entertaining book. She picked her characters and their traits well and I really enjoyed reading this book.

The Secret Passion of Simon Blackwell

A very good but heartbreaking at times story. Simon had suffered a truly awful loss and his awakening to life again was nice to see happen. Annabelle is not a shrinking violet of a woman and her determination even when she didn’t know about the tragedy did Simon a lot of good. With Simon trying to protect his heart he almost didn’t see what he had until it was to late.

Excellent book. I enjoyed the way she showed two people each dealing with loss and how they let it affect their lives. I especially liked the way she had both of the characters deal with their goodbye moment. His was soft and touching, while hers was a bit more emotional, but both rang true.

This book had said in the pile for a while, I had started it a couple of times, but never got into it. I finally finished it up over the weekend. I did end up enjoying it, but felt the ending was far too short.

Dr. Ronni Powers doesn't really have time for men or a family, but when she stays temporarily in Ryan Malone's guest cottage while her condo is being finished, she just sort of gets caught up in the moment. It all starts when Ryan's oldest son breaks into her bedroom to make sure she's safe and won't hurt him or his siblings.

Stand-In Wife, The Manning Brides Mira 2008, by Debbie Macomber

The second book in The Manning Brides, also written in 1992.  The books have stood up pretty well over time.  If you are a Debbie Macomber fan you will enjoy reading these earlier books of hers.
