CITY OF BONES by Cassandra Clare

Mary-Theresa

The first book in The Mortal Instruments series, I found this a compelling debut.

Dreamquake by Elizabeth Knox

Mary-Theresa

The sequel to Dreamhunter (which I haven't read), this story is about a fantasy setting that has similarities to 1900s society. Though I found the writing to be evocative, and the ideas intriguing, I found it more intellectually interesting than emotionally compelling. I finished it and was pleased, but didn't feel the need to go find the first book (MTH)
