BIDDING FOR LOVE
The free-spirited heroine inherited just over half of an
auction business from an uncle, but when she goes out to check it out, and join
in, she finds a frosty reception from her stuffy second-cousin-twice-removed
(or some such), and his equally stuffy and selfishly oblivious fiancée. They
want her to sell some of her stock to the fiancée, so she won’t have a
majority, and toddle back off to London.
This does not set well with our heroine, so she digs her heels in, gets
reluctantly moved into the fiancee’s “holiday cottage” and begins to turn
things upside down—her own life as much as everyone else’s. This is a
thoroughly enjoyable story with delightful characters and an inside look at the
“real” side of Antiques Road Show. I just gobbled it down.
