62. Maureen Child ~ The Non-Commissioned Baby ~ SSR [by Request] 2004 {Bachelor Battalion}
New line, new series. Since I read a review of one of Maureen Child’s Bachelor Battalion books, I’d been searching when, while at one of the thrift stores that I visit, there was one of the books from this series. I was tickled pink! In short order, I came across two more books from this series and then chanced upon a Silhouette by Request title with the second of the Bachelor Battalion books in the series… happy? You bet! So while I know that I’m missing a LOT of these books, I’m off to a good start. Yee haw!
This book was originally released as SD #1174 [1998]

FROM the BACK:
Assignment: Fatherhood. Captain Jeff Ryan had just landed his toughest duty ever ~ daddy to a six-month old baby girl. The valiant soldier enlisted expert help in the form of Laura Morgan…and her lovely form could stop a battleship. But could it anchor the heart of one tough marine?
MY NOTES:
After reading the review (and I still can’t find whose review it was) for one of Child’s other Bachelor Battalion books I was pretty sure that this would be another series that I’d really enjoy ~ after all what’s not to like? Tough military hero brought low by the love for a woman… works for me! And so did this story. In every way.
Jeff Ryan was in no way prepared for fatherhood and suddenly finding himself guardian of a fellow marine’s baby was sure nothing that he could prepare for. Poor Jeff, the whole baby-on-the-doorstep routine was really rather, well funny may be a little strong, but it sure made me chuckle. Thank heavens for sisters and their friends!
Laura Morgan was a great companion on this journey to parenthood. She’d closed herself off after the death of her fiancé eight years previously and, fortunately for her, Miranda and Jeff were just the ones to find the way to bringing her back to life. A wonderful story all the way around: The characters are people that I’d be pleased to meet anytime and the burgeoning relationship between Laura and Jeff was sweetly accented by Miranda. What a great introduction to a series that I’ve been certainly looking forward to experiencing!
