#4014 The Soldier's Homecoming
I rxed this book in the mail today and then had to run off to work! I came home after work and devoured it in one sitting.
I am glad to say this book is as good as I wanted it to be. I did cry many times because Donna got it- she really got it. The fear for Jonas that Shannyn feels is believable and so close to my heart.
Their daughter Emma is a brave, wonderful little girl. I had to smile at the phrase girly-girl. I have no daughters but call the girls in my Sunday school class my girly-girls. The reference to Love You Forever was the icing on the cake for me. The author truly caught the essence of a young child.
This may not be the usual review. It is a heartfelt thank you to Donna who cared enough to leave out the politics and just write about a man and a woman. Anyone that likes a dramatic heartfelt read will love this book. It was a true joy to read and is definitely a keeper. (5 stars!)
Also, since I am former enlisted and my hubby is an enlisted man it was nice to see a book that wasn't about an officer!

Loved this one. Very nice to see people and not politics in this one all the way around! It's nice to see a book that draws all sorts of readers together. Very wonderful, emotional read and wonderful review.

I loved this book! It is so
I loved this book! It is so gritty, gutsy for a line that produces sweet reads. However, it can be said that despite how gritty and H oriented, there was a sweetness to the story.

There are bits of authors in every book...
And in this case, there is more of me than in any so far.
I call my girls girly-girls. And my bff bought my eldest Love You Forever when she was born...
This wasn't about politics. It was about people. That was the easy part, to be honest. The truth is the book wasn't about EASY PEOPLE. LOL.
And Angel...lol about the officers. Noncoms are hot.
I bet you are counting the days now.

You hit the nail right on the head. There was a griitiness to the book but it was very sweet and poignant as well.
I just got off the phone with my own Sgt (actually a Master Sgt) who is in Honduras and he laughed when I said I was glad the book was about a Sgt. He said to let everyone know enlisted men can be very romantic.
Donna- My hubby will be home Friday night! Then he can help me get the covers of books on my reviews. I have read the directions Anita Mae and others put up but I can never seem to get the book covers to show up.

I forgot to add
I loved learning a little about the Canadian Armed Forces. I never personally worked with them. My hubby worked with some guys from Canada and Australia when he was in Qatar 18 months ago. (I would love to see a big handsome Aussie in uniform!)
