I'm now 600 words away from reaching the minimum required word count for my Nocturne Bites story. Woot! Considering what's left to be written, I'm thinking overall the story will land somewhere in the 13-15k territory when I'm finished with it. I still have no idea what I'm going to use for a title. Titles have never been one of my strong points.
There are only two more major scenes to be written, if I can stick in there, and the house faeries cooperate with me, I think I can have the draft completed by the weekend. I'm going to shoot for that goal and see what happens. I'm still trying to keep on target, and have this book ready to go out by the end of the month.
I've got my fingers crossed!

Congratulations, Cora...
... on meeting your word count goal (at only 600 to go, you're probably there by now.) I'm 15,000 into the ms I'm targeting for Silhouette SE... 40,000 to go... oh dear...

thanks WRoxi42
Thanks, Wroxi :-)
I reached my base word count earlier in the day, and I'm now over 10k. *snoopy dance* I'm gradually winding down my final chapters, and tonight after my toddler is off to bed, I'm going to try working on it a little more.
Congrats on the 15k! It sounds like you're going strong. I checked your profile and it sounds like you know what you're doing - 4 books! Very inspiring. That totally rocks.

Half-way there
Well, now I'm at about 27K, which hits the half-way mark. I'm aiming to complete the first draft over the summer, but I'm also revising a totally different manuscript with a workshop group at the same time.
How'd you do, Cora? Did you get your ms finished by end of May?

Hey Wroxi!
Well, I didn't get it finished by the end of May *blush* but I did finish it. I'm currently cleaning up Chapter 3. I got my 1st and 2nd chapters back from my crit partner who is really excited about the story. I'm almost to the half way point with the final draft, so it's getting there slowly but surely.
I kinda got over-optimistic about submitting it by this coming Friday, July 11th. No way I can make that, but it's looking like August 1st won't be a problem. I'm just gonna cross my fingers and keep editing.
Congrats on that 27k!! Woot! I'm glad to hear your story is coming along nicely. :-)

Hi Cora! Yes, the hurting will stop...
Hi Cora;
Sorry to hear about your hubby... I remember the days when writing had to be juggled around everything and everyone else. My husband has always worked long hours. Our girls (now 19/18/13) were all homeschooled and some days I thought I'd lose my teeny-tiny mind trying to be a writer along with handling everything else. Now the oldest two are mostly taking care of themselves. My youngest is at home for one more year and then off to a local high-school. And my hubby? He decided last year to start a Masters program. He's gone even more now than he used to be!! But somehow I still manage to get the writing done. Little by little.
My SSE is still only about half-done but I've made major changes to the other book I'm working on and it takes priority right now. I'm AM still working away on the romance, however, because I intend to pitch it to an HQ editor at the Surrey International Writers Conference in October. www.siwc.ca I go every year and it's awesome.
Anyway, hang in there. It does get easier.
