Ethan Curtis came up the hard way –
from the trailer park to the top. He purchased Harrington Inc when it was floundering and moved it from the red into a profitable company. He wanted the respectability that the family name had but did not know how to achieve it. Mary Kelly’s grandparents were the old wealth family that had owned Harrington Inc. Mary never got along with her grandparents because of how they treated her father - not worthy enough to marry thier daughter. Mary was a part owner of No Rings Required – a company that helped bachelors, newly widowed, businesses etc setup parties and gala events, business dinners, decorate homes and offices – whatever they could not do themselves.
Ethan was set to prosecute Mary’s father for attempting to steal a statue that had belonged to his wife that Ethan received from her grandparents. In order for him to drop the charges she had to agree to get pregnant (the old fashioned way) and give him a child. It was blackmail but to protect her father she agreed, then told him she was pregnant when she wasn’t. He hired her to handle a big business dinner at his home and a luncheon their also. He wanted to get to know her better and perhaps have her stop hating him because of the blackmail.
This is the first book in the series No Rings Required and I quite enjoyed it.
