Anna Walsh and her brother Jake owned Blue Maverick films which was famous for it's documentaries. They has been business partners for nine years and produced some award winning films. Now Jake wanted to settle down, but if he did it would mean the end of Blue Maverick. They agreed to make one more film and it was to be the real story of what happen the night her friend, Terri, died in a bus crash of the music group Five Star.
Mason Star had been a singer with the band but had been thrown out of the band after the bus crash. Now he is running Mulligan's which is a housing community he had established to provide a base for people starting their lives over. There were six cottages that opened into a parklike yard and a community center building. The residents would support each other so they could make changes in their lives and allow them to move on. Now the rich who lived around them were trying to get a zoning change wich would close down Mulligans. When Anna approached Mason about making the documentary about the truth about the bus crash Mason refused to talk to her about it. Then she offered to make a free documentary about Mulligans to help put a stop to the rezoning effort-- if he told the true story about the bus crash and allowed her to make her documentary.
Mason has a teenage son who is also a musician and he belongs to a small band of other teenage boys, but they have been offered a chance to go on the road and open for the Five Star band. Mason wants to prevent this because he knows how hard that life is with the access to girls who will do anything and the drug and booze that is in large supply.
There is a lot of conflict in this story but the requisite happy ending is there. I enjoyed the story very much and think everyone should read it.
