The Billionaire's Pregnant Mistress by Lucy Monroe (HP 2438)
Back Cover:
When Greek billionaire Dimitri Petronides is forced to give up Xandra Fortune, his beautiful mistress, he's certain she won't be too distraught. For all the intense passion they've shared she's never let him into her heart, and such a commitment-shy woman could never be his wife... But after their split, Dimitri discovers that Xandra Fortune is not who he thought she was - and she is also pregnant with his child. Now he has to track her down and claim his mistress as his wife!
Favourite Scene: (shows the heroine is intelligent and won't be taken for a fool)
“If I told you I had already decided not to go through with the marriage, you would not believe me, hmm?”
Was he saying that? No. This was just another one of his subtle manipulations. “Don’t tax your personal integrity making the claim. You’re right. I wouldn’t buy it.
Another Fav Scene: ("ah, those nuns" is a funny line!)
“Now she is pregnant with your child. The Duprees have never had so much scandal attached to their name. What the nuns would think, I have no idea. Why, I’m terrified to send my monthly letter to Mother Superior for fear of letting something slip.”
“Nuns?” Dimitri asked.
“The convent, remember?” Alexandra whispered.
“Ahh…those nuns.”
Yet Another Fav Scene: (I love that the hero is HORRIFIED at the idea of only having one baby with his heroine)
“This baby and the ones to come after will have both their mother and their father to raise them.”
“You want more children?” The thought had never occurred to her.
“Yes. Do not tell me you only want this baby?” The thought clearly horrified him.
Yet Another Fav Scene: (*sob* this was so emotional!)
“I wanted you to be there so many times. I would wake up and reach for you and only find an empty bed. The first time the baby really kicked, I wanted to call you, but I thought you were married. I m-missed you so much…”
His arms tightened around her and he whispered to her in Greek. The words were too low and quick for her to understand, but the soothing tone was not. She snuggled into his arms and cried out the frustration and pain of the last three months.
Her sobs eventually turned to small hiccups and he mopped up her face as if she were a child. She gave him a watery smile. “You’ll be good with the baby.”
He didn’t respond to the joke. His eyes had darkened with unfathomable emotion. “You will never be without me again.”
Yet Another Fav Scene: (I love how she admitted her love and wanted to be generous with her love)
She pressed her face into back, kissing him with feverish intensity. “I don’t hate you. I love you,” she whispered fiercely against his skin. “I’m sorry I’ve expressed my love so dismally you can’t believe me. Love is supposed to be generous, but I’ve been too busy protecting myself.”
My Review:
Really well-plotted book! great motivation for the choices/actions of the hero and heroine. I love Lucy Monroe, this book just gave me warm fuzzy feelings about her books! The characters just make such sense and their emotions feel so natural. I really feel the love between them, and I feel their insecurities. Every time the hero felt he was hurting his heroine, I just went a little mushy at how he just stiffened and expressed his resolve never to do that again. This is a keeper for me!
Rating: 4.5/5 stars, I just fell in love with this one, the warmth and love and passion were just so strong! LM writes emotional stories.

Number 2 on the Hit Parade
Lucy Monroe is number 2 on the Presents author's list.
Was this the book where they lived in Paris and when they split up (very emotional) she changed her hair color, stopped modeling, changed her name, and moved to NY. She was staying with her sister and brother-in-law when he went to their place for a holiday party and that's when he found her?

That is correct! This is the book you're thinking of.
Now hey... what's this about top Presents authors? There's a list? I'm curious who the top five are, it would be interesting to compare it to my top five! Though really, I don't think I could limit my fav HP authors to anything less than ten. I think my number ONE would probably be Susan Napier at this point because of her humour, which I just love.
Hi Janet
I read this one when it was released in 2004. I adore LM so this would not have waited very long on the TBR pile. Your review was great, I've just pulled the book of my keeper shelves and am going to have a quick re-read.
Thanks!

Heh. I didn't have a conscious TBR pile or Keeper pile until I joined this community 2 months ago... I just consumed books without much reflection.
I'm glad I started an index this past year of the books I was reading.... it's definately keeping me from duplicating too much, and I love having my keeper list now. Now that I'm actually thinking in terms of keepers, I start seeing a trend of "hey there are three Lucy Monroe keepers, maybe I should look up more of her books!" Gets me to read more of the authors work!
I've had one for years!
But I didn't call it a TBR until I joined the Challenge in 2007. I have most of LM's backlist so I can usually grab one to re-read. She's an auto-buy and a keeper (even if I don't care for the book - which isn't often!)
My favourite thing to do is UBS haunting and finding those elusive backlist books. Especially for Harlequin authors. A lot of UBS do not have them over 2 or 3 years old - some will only have those released in the last 6 months. No good for me - I buy them right away!

I have a "wish list" of older books. So I hope that one day I'll come across a lot of books on eBay that includes one of my "wish list" books.
I was scrolling the ebay items for six months searching for "Angel of Darkness" by Lynne Graham. I was so happy when I finally found a copy.
I don't do UBS shopping too much, because I love eBay and buying huge lots of books. It's like buying a massive box of chocolate, as opposed to one or two pieces of very good chocolate.
Hi Janet!
I re-read this one last night before bed (I stayed up too late again!) I'd forgotten how good it was.

This is one of my favourite Lucy's ...
I've read most of her books now ... I have her two recent releases plus her two new releases for this summer in my TBR ...
I loved her Scorsolini trilogy too .... she writes such great heroes! ... so yummy!

Organization
You guys are so organized I want to cry. My daughter and I read the same books. When I finish the Presents I have to code them for her.
She will read the really good books and the good books. If they are not very good I have to let her know so she won't read them. It gets dangerous around here if I forget to mark one as bad. I must be ruthless. Or else she won't order my books. And her discount means I can get more books!
They have to be really good to be in the keeper room. (The garage in nice Rubbermaid storage boxes.)

Heh. w-w-w, you should get post it notes. Put a post it note at the front of each book, put your opinion of it, then she can read your opinion. And add her own.
Lucy Monroe
I love Lucy Monroe's Presents. I think I have read them all but I could not remember this one and it was driving me nuts. So I went to Amazon and looked at the cover. Then I remembered it and I have read it. I wanted to do what ElleJay did and refresh my memory but I couldn't find it! I am sure that I have it but I looked through all my books and can't find it. I'll have to search again when I have more time.
