I hate our news people around here I had no idea that Lora Leigh and Shiloh Walker were supposed to be in our area yesterday! I saw it on the news and let out a small scream. I don't have any books by Shiloh but I have some of Lora Leighs and omg I wanted to die! They just never inform us of any events going on here. I guess if I visited Lora Leigh's website it might have had something but how would I have known to go look in the first place.

Unless you are E Lynn
Unless you are E Lynn Harris (a native of my state), you don't get media coverage. I think he has been a few times without media coverage. Usually it's a special event - something more that a booksigning.
I think that's why I am subscribed to every author's newsletter or yahoo group. Nothing like going straight to the source for information.

oh no!!
But then, I never hear about the stuff near here either. So I've done the same... subscribed to a whole bunch of author newsletters, etc.

I think Jillyan
I think Jillyan went to this too bad you didn't know. You could've met up with her and had a great time together. She blogged about going to her first ever signing and it was Lora Leigh and Shiloh Walker. Sorry you missed it.

I know how you feel!
2 years ago Mary Balogh was going to be attending a writer's conference 20 minutes from my house! She was going to be talking about her books and then a book reading and signing. I was all prepared to go and got a call. They rescheduled my gall-bladder surgery for that day! So I missed it and she hasn't come back yet!

I a so sorry you missed it. I should have messaged you!
I feel terrible. I found out about it two days before hand. And only that because I hang out on her forum.

Hi Sarah, How awefull you
Hi Sarah, How awefull you missed the signing. And how nasty that there wasn't much advertising/notice about it. It's really to bad, cause more books are sold to romance readers, than any other line out there.
Glad you now know about the next big signing and can hopefully make that one.

I hate the local denver news !
I hate the local Denver news! Theyt never say anything worthwhile that I care about. They think people don't read and the local news is all full of non-stop reports about the latest diet fad and also this ongoing reports of the latest $$$$ new medical thing everyone just has to have (usually fluff things or things really expensive) and of course the sensational news. I have nt rad either of these authors before but I ordered some Shiloh Walker books. I saw her keep her head and make thoughtful comments on a website that was crazy and thought, hmmm, if she can pay attention in this kind of atmosphere, I am curious to see if this is true in her writing as well.

Hi Kathy, Merri
Never knew what was once warm is now a cold place.
Colorado isn't much
Colorado isn't much better...it's the Broncos or hockey or baseball or what new business is hot or crashing or how to get thin or who's rich. Our local news lately is really more ads than news. The newspaper keeps cutting the book section, adding more white to the margins and just pulling AP etc stories rather than reporting. which is the ONE section that still interests me. I used to go to your city from Charleston. I get so tired of these newspapers trying to be hip and entertaining...when duh, people who read newspapers are probably people who read books too. I think it is the same everywhere really with the news trying to figure out how to count but doing the things that make them less appealing.

Hi Merri, our newspaper here
Hi Merri, our newspaper here in Huntington is so thin that it is embarassing. Non news stuff makes the front page anymore. Most important issues get tossed deep inside. I think the main problem with newspapers is the internet I admit I seek most of my news from the internet mostly because it is written better and I can find more. I cant say if it is the poor writing of our newspaper or just because I'm on the net more.

Moonsong, I couldn't believe
Moonsong, I couldn't believe it. I have been stuck in bed on antibiotics and happened to watch the local midday news...they had an interview with an author, Janet Evanovich. I could not believe it--they almost never talk about books but stick to the diet fads. I thought of this blog immediately and thought...gosh, did someone out there look at your blog?!?! Yes, I tend to get more and more news from the internet but mostly because out paper got worse. I loved reading the newspaper. When I moved here, I usd it to try to get to know the area. No one could use it that way now.
