Well I Have to Tell You What Happened to Me at Work Last Night

It was after we had our work done.  We all decided to get a lunch and sit in the patient lounge to watch TV.  The patient lounge is right on the floor so it's something we do each night.

I had a cup of apple cinnamon tea as I wasn't to hungry yet.  I say we went in there around 12:30ish.  I was sitting on the couch along the back wall and the table is right in front of the couch.  One of my co-workers came in and went to sit next to me.  She went to go across the table and guess what happened!

SHE KNOCKED OVER MY TEA WHICH WAS ONLY 5 MINUTES FROM THE KETTLE.  IT WENT ALL OVER THE BOTTOMS OF MY LEGS AND IN MY SNEAKERS.  I couldn't get my sneakers off fast enough let me tell you.  Holy crap did it ever hurt.  My legs were not to bad but I do have a few small burn areas on my feet and big toes.

Sherry felt so bad so I said to her at least you didn't break my fav mug...trying to lightened things up a bit.  So anyway the girls put dressings over the burns (which were minor) and they started to feel much better.  Needless to say I couldn't put my sneakers back on and ended up getting a pair of OR scrubs to wear.  And of course my pants were white and it was the first time I wore them.  I put my pants in soak to get the stain out and wore OR booties for most of the night.

It was quite funny actually.  Can you just picture me hobling around in OR greens for pants and my light blue and white top with OR booties on.  What a sight let me tell you.  Anyway my feet are much better this morning and they only have red spots on them now. Still a little sore but at least I'm not hobling around anymore!

It really only takes a split second for something to happen.

Right place at the time

Glad you are okay and none of the burns were bad. Nothing like being in the right place at the right time for help with burns dressings and spare clothes though!!!! Hope the feet and burns heal quickly

Oh, Shelley....

I bet that hurt like heck!  At least it didn't splash on your upper body or... *gulp*... your face

I tell you, I've never been severely scalded before but I got sun poisoning one year when I was newly married (translate as a greenhorn).  A friend stupidly told me to put on baby oil and lay out to get a slight burn which would turn into a tan - she and I are both fair-skinned - and I stupidly did it!  Anyway, the next day I was severely burned and swelled up so that my eye were little slits.  I hid my face from DH and cried.  I had to cover my body in a green aloe mixture for a couple of weeks.  Yeah, I know - it was DUMB.  Oh, and you should've seen the pizza delivery guy's face when I opened the door covered in green gook! LOL.  But, seriously, any kind of burn hurts and it's really not funny.  Well, except when you described hobbling in your padded feet and scrubs.  I can actually envision that, as my mom is a nurse.  Makes me smile.

Anyway, I hope you heal up quickly!

Bonsal Yep, definitely

Bonsal

Yep, definitely the right place for dressings and extra clothes!!  The dressings helped so much with the pain at the time.

Amanda

I hear ya.  Sorry that happened to you.  I actually got heat stroke once and that was worst pain than childbirth.  I could hardly move for the pain.  I ended up in the hospital to pain get pain meds through a needle.  Wouldn't want to go through that again.

The pain is pretty much gone now thank goodness.  I am reading Phury now!!  I' m on about page 184 now and so far I think it's great.  What about you, are you reading Phury yet?

Hi Shelley!

I work in Payroll & am a manager.... did you make a WCB claim?  If you play it right you could get paid to stay home and read for a day or two!

Oh ElleJay

I never even thought of that but as I am walking good now and only have a few red spots I don't think I could get away with the time off.

Ouch!

I am glad that the damage wasn't any worse than what it was.

Did anyone get a pic of you in your clothes after you changed?  I would love to see you in  the OR booties and scrubs.

Nope sorry no pics were

Nope sorry no pics were taken.  But that would've ben funny no doubt.

Hi Shelley

I'm sorry you got hurt. Ouch! You are right, any little burn hurts so I'm sure this must be so uncomfortable.
