#416 The Desert Lord's Bride – Olivia Gates (SD #1884)
Farooq has abdicated in favour of Shehab, and Tareq has stirred up the political situation so much that the only hope of peace is for Shehab to marry Farah, the newly discovered daughter of Sheikh Atef Aal Shalaan. But Farah doesn't want to be a political pawn for the father she's only just met, so she refuses. Shehab goes abroad and organises a costumed ball so that he can meet Farah incognito and persuade her to marry him, but they fall in love at first sight and his plans go awry. Will she forgive him when she finds out who he really is?
When I was reading Farooq's book, while I liked the description of Shehab (who wouldn't?!), I became absolutely fascinated with Kamal, and was extremely disappointed to realise I was going to have to wait until September when I wanted him right then!
So I consoled myself with the thought that Shehab's book would come out, but I saw it more as a consolation prize rather than the main prize.
So first of all my apologies to Shehab (and Olivia), because then I started reading The Desert Lord's Bride and WOWEE!
Shehab just seduced me into ignoring Kamal (for the moment) because despite all his attempts to view Farah as a necessary chore, with his instincts screaming at him not to trust her, insisting that she was just a self-absorbed gold digger, Shehab couldn't ultimately deny what his senses were telling him, that Farah was an innocent to be protected, especially from himself. How could anyone not fall in love with Shehab, so fluent in the beautiful language of love? I loved his attention to detail, his grasp of what is really important and his genuine delight in the outcome, that he could prove to Farah beyond a doubt that she was the most important person in his life. My only regret (I had to have one) is that we saw so little of Kamal, that Olivia was saving all of him for September (but then I'm greedy!
) Olivia did dribble enough info to make me REALLY impatient for September and Kamal's story at last (like I needed extra reasons to be impatient!) He's always been the most mysterious and enigmatic brother and I can hardly wait to find out why. I'm also wondering how Kamal and Aliyah will react to being the major players in this game of "Pass the Parcel", because I certainly wouldn't be happy about it! So you can take it for granted that there are the (usual) beautiful descriptions, highly emotional love scenes and feast for all the senses that Olivia always provides so beautifully (and seemingly effortlessly). Now if only she could write books as quickly as I read them LOL

I've been dreaming ever since I wrote this review of a nice
little world with Damian, Farooq, Shehab and Kamal to keep me pampered while I read all the books that Olivia writes (as quickly as I read them
) because that really would be a dream - nine hundred plus Olivia Gates' books a year (I really want the old "ooh" smiley)
You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?

“’Tis the good reader that makes the good book; a good head cannot read amiss: in every book he finds passages which seem confidences or asides hidden from all else and unmistakably meant for his ear.”

Sadhbh!!!!!!
First of all, Shehab tells me to tell you that your apology is accepted.
Second, let me tell you how worried I was about Shehab's reception. After all Farooq had catapulted to a Damian-rivaling status, and Kamal was the much anticipated big mysterioso bad to you, I wondered how Shehab, would fare in your opinion. So a HUGE sigh of pleausre and relief, here! (where the PHEW emoticon when you need one?)
THRILLED you fell in love with Shehab, (and he'd seduced you into ignoring Kamal for the time being
) and that you so thoroughly appreciated his actions and motives and was so in tune with his emotions.
As for dribbling enough info about Kamal to up your impatience...heeee! Sorry for the wait, but according to my editor, the finale and Kamal are the hottest yet, so hope they'll be worth it to you!
Another incredible review Sadhbh!!! THANK you!!
