The Desert Bride by Lynne Graham (HP 1875)

Janet85
Format: Print Books

Back Cover:

'I am a close acquaintance of Crown Prince Razul's!'

Rash words indeed... Bethany was desperate to stop her deportation from Datar, and only Razul could help her. But she'd tried so hard to forget him - they'd been involved two years before, and back then Bethany hadn't been able to handle such a proud, passionate man.

Bethany got to stay in Datar. However by renewing her 'close' acquaintance with Razul she paid his price - he demanded that she become his wife!

Favourite Scene: (I love that he drops what he's doing and "flying leaps" upon her)

"I need a doctor," she told him weakly.

"A doctor?" He frowned uncertainly at her.

She pushed the sheet down from her aching arm.  "See?" she pointed out.

The tray dropped with a thunderous crash of smashing china.  She blinked in bemusement as Razul suddenly came down on the bed beside her in what could only be described as a flying leap.  A flood of volatile Arabic rent the charged silence.  He grasped her fingers in a death grip and stared down at her, immobilised by shock.  Panic, sheer panic, she registered in astonishment, and then he dug out a mobile phone, but his hand was shaking so badly that he evidently hit the wrong numerals, because he cursed viciously and had to start again.  Nor was the call that he eventually managed to make distinguished by any princely form of cool.

My Review:

*swoon*  The hero fell in love with her two years ago, meeting her in England and pursuing her.  The heroine's family experiences scarred her for life: making her distrustful of promiscuous men and Arabic men in particular.  She's a virgin, 27, and a doctor/professor.  She's very mature and she doesn't want to give in to the hero.  The hero spends the next two years watching her and fighting his father for the right to marry the English woman he has decided is the ONLY ONE for him.  Once he has that permission, he methodically manuevers the heroine into coming to HIM under false pretenses, then he sets about getting her to marry him however he can.  She gives in eventually.  They obviously love each other intensely!  But they have miscommunicated: the heroine thinks that their marriage is only temporary, that the hero's father the king won't accept her as a permanent wife for the hero.

My Rating: 4/5 stars, incredible passion, intense love, I love how determined the hero was to get his heroine.  He was too quick to let her go though, and he was at fault for not setting the heroine straight.

WOW!

Wow!  This one sounds really good.  Here I go on another search!

Hi Janet

Humm, this one sounds really good. I am getting a lot of Presents recommendations from you.

I noticed that Presents were a bigger part of my reading then I had thought. Now they will probably be even more so. Thanks for all your great reviews. I love how you put favorite scenes when you like a book. I may just have to copy you.

Heh Marige, glad to have

Heh Marige, glad to have people sharing my obsession.  And I'm glad you like my reviews, I'd like to see your fav scenes too.  Those little bits capture the FEEL of the book and the PASSION and make me want to read the book.  Sometimes a clip of the book is more enticing than reading a plain old-premise / synopsis.

It's pretty time consuming jotting down big fav scenes though.  I'm getting a bit bogged down in typing up so many.  I started out with a small line, and now I wrote up half a page here, half a page there.

I agree that the bit from

I agree that the bit from the book is so enticing. I really like that.

I think that it wouldn't be much of a problem for me as I don't read very fast. But I can just imagine how long it would take you. Every time I look you have at least 5 or 6 books blogged.
