• Widowed and penniless from her husbands mismanagement of their finances, Lexie moves with her small son to her in-laws on the Navajo reservation, until she gets on her feet. She wants her son to know about his Navajo heritage. 

• Michael, Lexie’s brother-in-law, is reluctant for Lexie and her son to stay because of the trouble with the Skinwalkers. However, when his mother proposes that he marry Lexie, as was the old custom, he’s not against the idea. 

The Skinwalker war escalates and Michael and the others in the Brotherhood have all they can handle to protect their people. Lexie reveals her gift to communicate with the dead and becomes their channel to the Brotherhood. 

I really enjoyed the following these two through the area where I was traveling, also.
