Armed and Devastating

Julie Miller
Format: Print Books

Okay, nobody shoot me for doing this...

I actually read this book from cover to cover.  Since I wrote it, I'm not actually going to give it a rating (other than pretty darn spiffy Wink). But I took the time to read, so I want it to count toward the 100,000 book total.

Actually, I do skim over all my books when I get my author copies, just to see if anything was changed between the copyedits and the final edition (I did find two typos Frown)--and also to try to objectively see if the story still holds up the way I thought it would when I was writing it.  Plus, it's just darn cool to see your story in print.  But, like I said, I read this one--and was pleased to learn that I still liked it. Wink

I will say that I read the Larger Print version this time--and I give huge kudos to whomever came up with that idea!  For someone who spends as much time at the computer as I do, it's 100% easier on the eyes to read. Cool

Thanks, Sadhbh!

I know you don't like them, but look in the Cast of Characters list at the beginning of the book--then think about what you read Undecided.  You'll find the typo.

A&D has been fun for me--there's also a misprint on the back cover--the heroine's last name is misspelled.  Then in an RT Review (glowing, btw, so I'm not complaining!), the heroine's name was misspelled again!  Though in a different way.

Makes it a collectible, I think. Wink

Julie....

LOL about reading your own book!  And, personally, I can't see a darned thing wrong about you doing it.  In fact, when mine is published you can bet I'll do the same thing.

Does it make you breathless to see it in print and to read it as if it was someone else's book?  There must be such an incredibly rewarding feeling in being able to do that.  I can only imagine.

So, did you find a lot of last minute changes to the book?

It's always a rush to see

It's always a rush to see my book in print, Amanda! Cool  I hope that feeling never changes.  I think it's similar to seeing your child do well at something--it's sort of a maternal pride thing.  Not exactly, but that's the closest metaphor I can think of this morning. Undecided

No, there weren't any big changes from when I sent in my proofread galleys (typeset printout of final draft with my edits/editor and copyeditor's notes incorporated) .  There aren't big changes at that point.  But a few typos can get through when someone has to go in and enter a last-minute change, correct a misspelled name, etc.

I figured you wouldn't have

I figured you wouldn't have read the cast list, even if you could Wink.  They listed Aunt Peggy as Aunt Penny.

Here are the release dates for the 4 Brotherhood of the Badge books (of course, you can get them all a month early--either print or e-book--here on eHarlequin)

June 2008--Protective Instincts (Sawyer Kincaid)

July 2008--Armed and Devastating (Atticus Kincaid)

October 2008--Private S.W.A.T Takeover (Holden Kincaid)

November 2008--Kansas City Christmas (Edward Kincaid)

Yep, you guessed it--Edward's story is last.  But my editor wanted it scheduled that way because it has a Christmas-time setting and theme.  And I asked for the 2-month gap between the first two and last two releases so that I could get them written fast enough without pulling my hair out! Tongue out

doesn't mention them at all so I was afraid we were going to have to wait until 2009 - two months is doable in that context Wink

Personally I understand that you might need a year to write four books, but in that case I prefer H/S to delay the publication of the first two, so that they're all coming out within a 6 - 8 month period, than to have to wait three months between linked books

just my preference

How did I guess that Edward would be the last? Undecided it's my ornery vibe working overtime Wink
