I met J.R. Ward.

I went to a booksigning in Radlciff KY yesterday. It was wonderful. She spent an hour discussing the books and answering questions about speculation.

I had such a good time. I met some ladies that I know from Lora Leigh's message board there. They were so nice.

And J.R. Ward is by far one of the best speakers I have ever heard. She is witty and smart, exactly what I expected from the woman who is writing the Brother's story.

My favorite highlight of the chat was when someone questioned her about Lover Unbound. She commented on how she had a hard time writing his story and that he was a prick. It was all highly entertaining.

I blogged the experience and added additional photos on my myspace page but I didn't want to put it here because I didn't know how interested everyone would be in hearing about my drive down, cicadas and all that random stuff. If you are you can find me here: http://www.myspace.com/jillyan77

Now if I can load some pics here I will. Wish me luck.

I know this pic is huge. J.R. Ward is flipping through a copy of her book "Leaping Hearts" written as Jessica Bird that someone brought to have signed.

I think I'd

I think I'd of picked a couple of nicer looking books to get signed. The one looks really used.

The well-read

books belonged to one of the ladies I met there.  Her name is Mel and she says that she takes them everywhere with her, the bathtub, in her purse, to the ball field.... J.R. Ward was commented that they were "well loved".  The first three were in the worst shape as they've been around the longest.  She even had printed out a deleted scene and put it with Dark Lover so she could read it in order.

in front of her are Lover Awakened on top of Dark Lover, with Lover Eternal on the top of the other stack with either a second copy of Dark Lover OR a copy of Lover Revealed as the third book in that stack

BDB Fan? Who? Me?Surprised

Whatever gave you that impression?

Oh, Lucky you Jill!! I'm so

Oh, Lucky you Jill!! I'm so excited for you. I'm so glad you know how to post pics. They are awesome!  Cool

And yes, definately some well loved books there. I was telling dh, i've never seen any BDB books in that condition before.  I would hate to see mine looking that way, but i'm sure they will one day. Good thing i have an extra set hidden away., that makes me feel better. lol

Well used books....

I am super anal about my books and they stay looking pretty good.  I did take the post-its marking my favorite pages out (writing down said page numbers for reinserting later) before hand.  Now I wish I would have left them.  It would have been interesting to see what she thought about my favorite passages.

I'll keep them in the others when I go to the signing in September.

Hi Jillyan

Congratulations!!!

How cool to meet J.R. Ward and get your books signed. Thanks for posting the pics. Obviously you had a lot of fun.

What are you reading now?
(WAYRN 2009 Challenge)

I'll say it again...

Jill..... I'M ENVIOUS!
But thank you so much for posting the pictures... and wow... what an experience.  I'll be checking out your MySpace blog too... I've been spending a bit more time there lately than I did for awhile.  And I think leaving in your post-its would have been fabulous.  It'd show her how much you enjoy the books... and if I were an author that would be such a treat.  Yeah, like that'd ever happen... me being an author.  *sheesh*

Sadhbh, you? Know a lot about the BDB and assorted books?  Nah..... Wink Tongue out Innocent

As for books, I've actually got a case where I'm keeping an extra set of my BDB books... I'd be sooooo upset if anything happened to one of my books ~ Cry Surprised  Frown ~ but at least this way I'd have an extra available... right away!
   Sad... so, so sad.... Wink

This is my favorite pic.  One of the ladies that I met there commented that she felt so short next to JR.  So JR offered to fix that and got down on her knees for the pic.  What a sense of humor.  The pic is a little blurry because I was laughing so hard my hands were shaking.

That is fabulous!!  It is

That is fabulous!!  It is great that you met JR Ward.  I wish that I lived closer to where JR makes her appearances so that I could meet her and get her to sign my books.  One of these days maybe I'll have the money and can get vacation the same time as one of her appearances.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Jill you're very lucky that you live where you do.  I'm glad it was a great experience for you!!  Were there very many people there?

It's great seeing all your

It's great seeing all your pics Jill, so if you have more, i'd love to see them.

People and pics

There were about 40 people there to listen to her speak and get their books signed.  It was a rather larger crowd for such a small bookstore.  It is an independently owned shop but they were very accomodating passing out bottles of water and had homemade cookies for anyone who wanted them.  I wish that we had a little store like that closer to home.

turnout, because you can imagine the fear they go through that they'll be sitting there and nobody will turn up

Unfortunately none of my favourite (or even non-favourite) authors ever want to come here to sign books, I think I'm going to have to send them plane tickets with the invitations LOL Laughing - ya think JR Ward would come to write about the French connection if I suggested it Wink?

Sadhbh,

Sadhbh,

You're in Europe, right?  I would think J.R. Ward and a HOST of other writers would take you up on your offer in a hot second!  LOL

Jillyan,

What a wonderful opportunity to get to meet J.R. Ward!  I'm catching up on my gigantic TBR pile, and a friend just lent me her first couple of books in the series.  I'm having a blast reading them, and am envious you got to meet her because I would ask her a stack of questions!

I have to ask you -- when she was discussing her writing, did she say anything about how she chose her naming structure?  (I.E., Phury instead of Fury, Tohrment instead of Torment, etc.).  In reading the first two books, I am dying to know if there is additional symbolism there or if she was just having fun!!

Anyway, glad you had this great opportunity to get to meet her in Radcliff and thank you for writing in to share about it.  I hope that maybe one day she'll do a book signing in my neck of the woods!    Cool

August's MEMBER OF THE MONTH

"It's perfectly normal to love both Jane Austen and Edgar Allan Poe..." -- (Me!)

Naming the guys.

Someone asked about the names.  Her reply was that she was trying to come up with the name for the first character, the king, and she kept hearing what sounded like "Roth" in her head.  She said she knew that wasn't his name but it had to be something like that.  Then the name Wrath came to her and all the other names just fell in to place.

I know that's not really the answer you were looking for, sorry.  But it's the only thing she mentioned during the event.

**Interesting tidbit**

In either Dark Lover or Lover Eternal someone misunderstands another talking and thinks they hear the name "Roth" when they are referring to "Wrath".  I think it was Mary in LE but I could be wrong.

Anyway, I thought it was cool.
