The Winter Lodge by Susan Wiggs, MIRA 2007, The Lakeside Chronicles #2
Susan Wiggs is weaves another good read in Book #2 of The Lakeside Chronicles.
This is Jenny & Rourke's story that began when they were young at Camp Kioga in Book #1, Summer at Willow Lake. Questions that you might have had about some of the characters from book #1 are answered in this tale. Of course, there are still some unanswered questions which I am sure we can read about in book #3!
Jenny Majesky, runs the Sky River Bakery which heaps a lot on her young shoulders. You can't help but admire this young woman that takes most everything handed to her in stride. However, one more thing seems to knock her to her knees but by reading this book you can find out if she gets back up.
Rourke McKnight seems the kind of man that needs to protect or save anyone needing help. Maybe that is why he went into law enforcement and makes such a good Chief of Police for the small town of Avalon which is near Willow Lake and Camp Kioga.
Are Jenny and Rourke a couple or just good friends. It seems they avoid each other but Jenny knows his schedule well. Rourke is the kind of man that you can lean on when there is trouble however, Jenny doesn't seem to appreciate his help or broad shoulder.
Another hard to put down book by Susan Wiggs. If you enjoyed Summer at Willow Lake you should also enjoy this. I can't wait to read the next 2!!
