I thoroughly enjoyed this fictional account of a real character in Australia's convict history. I always find this era fascinating, but I don't like to read about too much human suffering (I know, head in the sand, but that's why I like romance). This book balances the suffering with a huge amount of rich detail about everyday life. I loved it.
